While every team trying to trade with Portland is now after one man, Deron Williams, there are still a small handful of teams content with their assigned position in one of the most balanced drafts of all-time.

- Teams two through eight are all heavily discussing swapping picks, but the Warriors, a team notorious for executing draft night trades, will not be moving up or down from the ninth spot, contrary to a report in The Oregonian that had Mike Dunleavy going to Portland.

The reason being, there is no player 3-8 that is of greater value than what they can acquire at nine, which to no great surprise will be Hakim Warrick.

- When Gerald Green?s value began to drop, the Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Clippers became two teams that decided numbers eleven and twelve were very attractive places to be, two of the most attractive spots in the entire draft.

Both teams are looking for swingmen and it is a lock that both Martell Webster and Antoine Wright will be available here.

- The Nets are another team that will sit back and wait out the lottery and select whichever power forward remains on the board at number fifteen, particularly because there is an excellent chance that their guy, who is Sean May.

- The final team satisfied with their current position are the Suns at twenty-one.  They have multiple options, including the most notorious, Ike Diogu, who played at ASU, but they'd be equally pleased with Johan Petro.

Random Player Chatter:

- Luther Head is gaining momentum and Houston is now a possibility at 24, despite the fact that he would be a redundancy with David Wesley already there, that is unless Carroll Dawson believes Head can handle the point guard position.

- Just when it appeared Channing Frye couldn't climb any higher, the Jazz have come out with a very strong interest in the Arizona center.  A smokescreen deluxe because they covet Deron Williams so publicly and while there is no chance of him being there at six, Raymond Felton might.

Three Free Fallers:

- Unless Charlie Villanueva is selected by the Bobcats at thirteen, Sacramento at 23 or Houston at 24 will be when his name is called.  The Nets have an interest in a power forward at fifteen, but are known to not be high on Villanueva and the remainder of the teams will be looking at other types of players.

- Yaroslav Korolev has been taken the Clippers for granted at number twelve, but quite a few players have become lottery picks that weren?t going to be before, which will create talent at certain positions that Elgin and company didn?t believe would be there.  And then from this place forward, there are too many teams that will not wait for a 17-year old small forward from Russia to develop when names like Graham, Hodge, McCants and even Garcia are available, with ceilings that are equally high and are ready to contribute immediately.

San Antonio?s twenty-seventh pick is looking more likely, which works out great for all involved; Korolev is bought another two seasons, since the Spurs don?t need him and RC Buford gets another international feather to put on his cap.

- Ryan Gomes has worked out for the Suns several times, but Bryan Colangelo has several other preferred options at twenty-one and if he?s not picked here, then he could fall all the way to the Warriors at forty.

Three Going Earlier Than You Think:

- Chris Taft will NOT be available when we cycle back to the Hawks at 31.  Every single team, from the Kings at twenty-three until the Knicks at thirty can use a 6-10, 250 pound monster, who was positioned to be in the lottery for the last eleven months.

- Rashad McCants has been a player that everyone says is too good to go in the twenties and if he is available when the Nuggets begin the twenties, they will tap him to join Carmelo and KMart in the Mile High City.

For months Fran Vazquez was going to be the first International player selected in this year draft and a lock to be in the lottery, but then the lottery seemed like a stretch over the last week, but after an impressive workout for Danny Ainge on Sunday, the Celtics? GM is putting out the word that he may be willing to move up to draft the 22 year-old.

Ainge was a crafty player during his long career and those pumpfakes he was famous for, where his lengthy hair would flop around the Boston Garden, have translated to his general manager?s chair, but the desired effect will be accomplished and Vazquez will be drafted in the lottery.
