Team Needs: A perimeter scorer to complement Raymond Felton and Brevin Knight in the backcourt.

Outlook: Charlotte would have clearly had a much better record had Emeka Okafor hadn?t missed almost sixty games because of an ankle injury. The Bobcats have a plethora of young talent ? Okafor, Felton, Gerald Wallace, Sean May, and Primoz Brezec. Adding an explosive scorer to their already dangerous core would do wonders for Bernie Bickerstaff.

With a healthy Okafor and a scoring boost for their third overall pick, Charlotte should strive to double their win total from this season (18) and be in the running for that 8th seed. Someone who can play defense wouldn?t hurt either, the Bobcats allowed opponents to score over 100 points a game in 2006, even though Wallace is one of the finest young defenders in the league.

Most Suitable Prospects:

Rudy Gay ? The Bobcats need some help on the offense end, and Gay can provide just that. Pairing him with fellow UCONN Alum Emeka Okafor might make for an interesting inside-outside combination. Of the suitable prospects Rudy is the most explosive, something that would work nicely alongside Charlotte?s Wallace.

Adam Morrison ? Morrison is a step slower than Gay, which may allow him to fall behind Rudy in the draft. Help on the perimeter is what Bickerstaff needs and all of these prospects can provide that, it?s just a matter of which they like best. Adam is the best option at the third pick if you?re looking strictly for a scorer.

Brandon Roy ? Of the three prospects listed, Roy is the most complete player. He?ll do a little bit of everything for you, something the Bobcats desperately need. A lot of mock drafts have Roy falling much further down, but I don?t think an established talent like this should be underestimated. He should be the first Senior taken.

Best Case Scenario: Charlotte takes Rudy Gay and he lives up to the hype. He could very well be the second coming of Scottie Pippen, or even Phoenix?s Shawn Marion. From his days at UCONN you can see that he?s a team player as well, he?ll be ok with deferring to the older guys around him in the NBA.

Worst Case Scenario: There?s a slight possibility that Morrison could be off the board once the Bobcats are called at the third pick. This narrows their options, but they should still have Gay alive on their draft board. Worst case scenario would be that Gay is plagued with injuries the way fellow Connecticut product Okafor has been. If so, look for another top three pick coming Charlotte?s way in 2007.
