Name: Jeff Green
Age:  20
Height:  6-9
Weight:  235
College: Georgetown (Jr.)

Strengths/Weaknesses:

Green allowed the Hoyas to take the next step this past season, guiding them deep into the NCAA Tournament and taking home the Big East?s Player of the Year award for himself in the process. He has the type of all-around game that NBA scouts fall in love with every June, but seems to have the drive and leadership to back it up as well.

He doesn?t possess the scoring ability that most of this year?s projected Lottery picks do, but his unselfish play at Georgetown turned a lot of people onto his game. He can do a little bit of everything, but what worries some people is where he?ll do it. He?ll enter the professional ranks without a true position, and players with that type of label have a history of struggling in the League.

In order for him to be successful in the NBA he?ll have to land with the right team, and carve his niche quickly. Otherwise, he?ll end up trying to do a little bit of everything, which can either heighten a player?s fame or derail his career entirely.

Marquee Performances:

His play during the NCAA Tournament spurred Georgetown to its first Final Four appearance since 1985, and in addition to the Big East honors he earned himself a selection on the Associated Press All-America Third Team this season. He was also named the Most Outstanding Player of the Big East Tournament.

Matched up against a tough North Carolina team with a berth into the Final Four on the line Green broke out, scoring twenty-two points en route to an impressive overtime victory for the Hoyas. Not only was his overall performance worthy of notice, but the stage on which it occurred has a great deal of meaning. Jeff showed that the bright lights don?t affect him. It?s especially true when you consider that scoring over twenty points wasn?t something he did with regularity.

Ideal Fit:

Jeff is the type of player that any team could use, but also the type that won?t flourish in just any situation. I think in order to reach his potential he?ll need the type of cast he had around him as a Hoya, which means that a quality big man would be a must. That leads me to think that the Celtics (at the fifth slot) wouldn?t be a good fit for Green.

I would like to see Green in a Bucks uniform. He could work nicely with an interior consisting of Charlie Villanueva and Andrew Bogut, and teammate Michael Redd on the perimeter. He?s such a nice all-around prospect that he?ll play well in a number of places, but where he?ll reach his ceiling is the question.

Best Case:

Luol Deng, Chicago: Both Green and Deng can do a little bit of everything for their team, and neither are natural scorers. If Jeff lands in the lap of the right team, I think he?ll become very similar to the former Duke standout. As his career has progressed Luol has developed into a dangerous offensive player, despite his average shot, which should give Green some hope to improve.

Worst Case:

Devean George, Dallas: Of similar body-type George initially played the role of catch-all bench player for the Lakers. I think Green has a higher basketball IQ than George ever will, but their careers could go down similar paths. Devean seemed to be in the perfect situation in Los Angeles, but hasn?t grown much as a Maverick. Green will need to find his L.A.
