Bobby Brown leaves Asseco Prokom

Asseco Prokom decided to part ways with 26-year-old guard Bobby Brown. The Polish club also released Channing Toney, who didn’t play in Euroleague at all. A former member of Asseco Prokom starting five, Brown averaged 10.7 points and 1.8 assists in 26 minutes in the Euroleague tournament.

Cibona goes on Strike

Cibona Zagreb club, which has an about 16 million euros debt, is in an extremely difficult situation. According to the Croatian media, Cibona’s players made a decision to go on strike and don’t prepare for the upcoming Euroleague game against Montepaschi Siena.

“The situation is stagnant for four months and nothing happens. Everyday the club could go bankrupt and nobody tells us anything,” said Cibona’s captain Bojan Bogdanovic.

Cibona lost all six games in 10-11 Euroleague season.

Maccabi extend winning streak to six games

Sofoklis Schortsanitis scored 22 points, Doron Perkins added 20 and Maccabi Tel Aviv rallied for their sixth straight win, defeating Zalgiris Kaunas by a final of 71-68.

With 90 seconds remaining, Zalgiris was leading by five points (66-61). However, Maccabi ended the game with a surprising 10-2 run and stole an important victory.

Maccabi’s Schortsanidis led the winners with 22 points and 6 boards, while Doron Perkins scored 20 and grabbed 7 rebounds. Former Duke guard Martynas Pocius, along with Mantas Kalnietis, Tomas Delininkaitis and Mirza Begic all scored 10 points for Zalgiris.

Clash of the titans ends with Panathinaikos victory

Dimitris Diamantidis scored 17 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished out 4 assists in Panathinaikos Athens’ 72-68 victory over struggling CSKA Moscow. Panathinaikos and CSKA have combined to win four of the last five Euroleague champion titles.

Stratos Peperoglou scored 12 points for Panathinaikos, as Dmitry Sokolov led CSKA with 17 points and 8 boards.
It was the fifth victory for Panathinaikos this season, while CSKA has won only one game of seven.

Iverson happy in Turkey

Besiktas star Allen Iverson denied rumors about his unhappiness in Istanbul and announced that he feels great there.

“What's up everybody? I want all of yall to know that I am very happy here in Istanbul. My family and I are making this our home,” Iverson wrote on his Twitter page.

However, winless Besiktas is still at the bottom of the Eurocup group B, while Iverson is averaging 12.3 points, 1.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 25 minutes.

Asseco Prokom regain hope

Despite a great performance by Stanko Barac, Asseco Prokom found a way to steal an extremely important away win (81-75) and regained an opportunity to make it to the Top 16.

Reserve Ratko Varda led Asseco Prokom with 16 points and Daniel Ewing added 13 points and 5 assists. Barac’s career-high 25 points was not enough for Caja Laboral, which has lost their fourth game in a row.

Darius Washington named Euroleague week’s MVP

Lottomatica Roma’s Darius Washington played his second consecutive great game and this time his 31 index ranking points were enough to win the Euroleague week’s MVP award. Washington, who played briefly for the San Antonio Spurs, scored 27 points (8/12 FG), had 4 rebounds and helped Lottomatica to a win over Cholet Basket and get one step closer to the Top 16.

Barcelona’s Pete Mickeal out two months

Regal Barcelona club, which already has a place in the Top 16, has lost their leader Pete Mickeal for two months. The 32-year-old forward will undergo arthroscopic surgery to solve his knee problems. Mickeal averaged 14 points and 4.5 points in 32 minutes in the Euroleague this season.

Sean May is staying in Turkey for the rest of the season

Fenerbahce Ulker team decided to sign Sean May, drafted 13th overall in the 2005 NBA Draft after leading North Carolina to a National Championship, for the remainder of the season. May, a 26-year-old forward, passed all medical tests and will stay in Istanbul through the end of 10-11 season.

Slovenia to host EuroBasket 2013

FIBA has finally announced that the 2013 European basketball championship will be held in Slovenia. According to media reports, Slovenian basketball federation will have to pay 3 million euros for the right to organize EuroBasket 2013. Slovenia will also try to find sponsors, who would like to pay the biggest part of the fee.
