Je’Kel Foster, who was a double-digit scorer during his senior season at Ohio State, is part of Bayern Munich’s collection of new talent during their return to the BBL. He is averaging 14.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.0 steal per game for 5-2 Munich.

Foster recently sat down with RealGM for an interview.

RealGM: How has your time been so far, basketball wise, in Munich? Is there anything that stands out so far about the city itself?

Foster: My time in Munich has been great so far, the city is great. A lot of Americans are here and there are a lot of American food places here. One of the best cities I have been in so far.

RealGM: Compared to living at home, what parts of your day to day life (eg: eating, free time) have changed the most?

Foster: My life in Munich is pretty much the same as it would be in the States. Only thing that is different is that there are more things to do in the States and my family events.

RealGM: With many NBA players moving over to Europe to play during the lockout, what is usually the hardest adjustment for American guys coming over for the first time?

Foster: The hardest part about playing in Europe is adjusting to the European culture and having a lot of down time between practicing. Once you understand that and take it for what it really is you will be fine. Having some your family visit helps a lot.

RealGM: For the many American players already based in professional European leagues prior to the NBA lockout, was there any concerns about job security due to the many new names available to European teams?

Foster: With the NBA lockout going on there were a good amount of players without jobs, but some teams are not looking the get NBA players because as soon as the lockout is over they know the players are going back to the NBA.

RealGM: Bayern Munich has a lot of star power this season and some pretty good results thus far. Are there any particular areas where the team can still improve?

Foster: We have a lot of good players on our team but no matter how good your team is there is always room for improvement. We have good players but we also have a brand new team and we are still figuring things out.

RealGM: You have the ability to score at a high level but you have also shown some flashy passing and an ability to set up team mates. Are you more comfortable in a scoring or distributing role?

Foster: I am more comfortable just playing the game of basketball. I try to be an all around player that can do a little of everything.

RealGM: What has it been like playing under German international coach Dirk Bauermann?

Foster: Coach Bauermann is a good coach, playing for him is like playing for an American coach. He is a defensive minded coach and a perfectionist.

RealGM: With a mix of different nationalities how do the coaching staff communicate with the team?

Foster: The staff does a really good job of communicating with the team. Most of the time every coach speaks English in Europe.

RealGM: Bayern’s first Eurocup game is on the 15th against Benetton. Is the team preparing any differently in comparison to a regular season game?

Foster: We prepare for every game the same way and that is with a hard week of practice to get ready to play in the game.

RealGM: Chevon Troutman had a strong debut and seemed to fit in well, how has his late inclusion to the team been?

Foster: Chevon is a good player. We needed a guy who does what is to do and that’s giving us a good post player who scores and rebounds the basketball.

RealGM: Is there anyone in the league you look forward to playing against? Who are some of the tougher guys you’ve gone against?

Foster: There is no one player I look forward to playing but I look forward to playing each and every game.

RealGM: Have you ever come close to playing in the NBA and is it still a possibility in the future?

Foster: I think every players dream is the play in the NBA, if I get that chance it would be great and I would take the challenge and be the best I can be.
