Here is a drill we used to run a few years back when I was playing Div 1 & 2. It is called the Tennessee drill among many other names which at this point in time escapes me.
Here is how the drill works.
You Need:
A Basketball court with a ring at either end.
A Minimum of 8 players.
5 Basketballs.
1 Stop watch.
How it works:
1. A player starts underneath the ring with a ball. (top end of picture).
2. Passes to the foul line extended. (either way)
3. Sprints directly down the middle of the court. Along with the two players on the foul line extended.
4. Receives the ball back from the player they pass to and then passes to the other player on the other side of the court.
5. Both players that were on the foul line extended sprint down the side of the court and criss cross over once the player sprinting down the middle of the court has gone through.
6. Middle player proceeds to do a lay up.
7. Foul line extended sprinters receive a pass from the foul line extended players (bottom end of court) and shoot a jump shot from the foul line extended.
8. Middle player the outlets to the foul line extended players and a mirror image of what happened on the way down happens back up the court.
9. Players rotate through so as to not be in the same place two times in a row.
10. Most important step. THE BALL DOES NOT HIT THE FLOOR
11. Do this for an alloted amount of time whether it be 5 minutes/10 minutes that is up to you. Set them a target for baskets made and if it is not reached then penalize them with sprints. Make EVERYONE call out each time a basket is made so they don't lose count and cannot cheat.
Diagram legend:
Light Blue dots = shot or layup.
Black dots = players
Black lines = pass
Grey lines = sprint
Ummmmm I know this isn't too easy to follow but by all means if you need anymore instructions then please just ask.
