Rice's 52 Points Help Dakota Earn D-League Title

Darius Rice scored a playoff-record 52 points to help the Dakota Wizards win the NBA Development League championship with a 129-121 overtime victory over the Colorado 14ers on Sunday night.

The former University of Miami forward was 11-of-19 from 3-point range and 18-of-29 overall from the field. He was 5-of-7 from the line and had seven rebounds.

Rice, who also set a league playoff record for 3-pointers, hit a 3-pointer to send the game into overtime tied at 109.

Maurice Baker added 19 points and 10 rebounds for Dakota.

Pooh Jeter led Colorado with 30 points, and Tony Bobbitt added 29.

Livingston Named D-League MVP

Guard Randy Livingston has been named the NBA Development League's Most Valuable Player for the 2006-07 season.
Livingston, who was signed by the Seattle Sonics on April 11 from the Idaho Stampede, was selected by a vote of the D-League's head coaches.

At the time he became the 21st Gatorade Call-Up of the season, Livingston, 6-4, 210, was leading the D-League in assists per game at 10.6, while averaging 12.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 39.3 minutes in 46 games. His 488 assists are a new D-League single-season record. The Stampede was 29-17
with Livingston in the lineup.

NBA Development League Expands to Fort Wayne

The NBA Development League (D-League) has awarded  an  expansion  team to Fort Wayne, Ind. for the 2007-08 season, NBA  Commissioner David Stern announced today. The team will play at the Allen  County  War Memorial Coliseum. Expansion teams in Orem, Utah, the Rio  Grande Valley in South Texas and Des Moines, Iowa have already been announced, boosting the number of teams to 16 for the 2007-08 season.

Amundson Named D-League ROY

Forward Louis Amundson, who has split time between the Colorado 14ers, Philadelphia 76ers and Utah Jazz this season, has been selected by the league?s head coaches as the NBA Development League?s 2006-07 Rookie of the Year.

Allocated to Colorado by the D-League, Amundson played in 25 games (25 starts) for the 14ers between stints with the Jazz and 76ers. He averaged 11.1 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.5 blocked shots per game, converting 117-of-208 field goal attempts (117-208). Colorado was 19-6 with the 6-9, 225-pound UNLV product in the lineup.

"Louis was an integral part of our team and the success we had in our inaugural season,? said Colorado head coach Joe Wolf. ?His personal development and the success of our team allowed him to be signed to the NBA for the rest of the season, and that is what this league is all about."
