The Sioux Falls Skyforce announced today that the team has acquired forward Dan Vandervieren from the available player pool. To make room for him on the roster the team waived guard Gabe Pruitt due to injury.
The active roster now stands at 10 players.
Vandervieren averaged 5.1 points and 6.2 rebounds while shooting 57.9 percent (22-of-38) from the field in 10 games (four starts) with the Austin Toros this season.
The Texas Legends announced today that Jerome Randle and Lawrence Hill have been traded to the Maine Red Claws for their 2nd and 3rd round selections in the 2012 NBA Development League Draft.
Randle, a 5-10 guard, was a training camp invite of the Dallas Mavericks, and played in two preseason games averaging 11.0 points and 2.0 assists in 18.0 minutes. Randle is the reigning Pac-10 player of the year and earned an AP honorable mention All-American honors for his senior season at Cal where he averaged 18.6 points, 4.3 assists, and made 93.3% of his shots from the free throw line.
Hill, a 6-8 forward, was invited to the Sacramento Kings training camp and appeared in one preseason game where he grabbed one rebound. Hill has played in the NBA Summer League for the Phoenix Suns, and the Golden State Warriors.
Terrico White scored 16 points in his first ever game as a member of the Idaho Stampede and Mildon Ambres added 15 points and nine rebounds as the Idaho Stampede defeated the Tulsa 66ers 95-77.
White made 7-of-16 shots, while Paul Carter, also newly acquired, finished with eight points, a team-high 10 rebounds, four assists and four steals. David Bailey was the only starter to finish in double-figures with 10 points.
Both White and Carter were acquired by the Stampede earlier on Thursday.
The Bakersfield Jam have acquired Seton Hall standout Jeremy Hazell.
Hazell participated in training camp with the Phoenix Suns. The Jam claimed his rights through the league’s “Affiliate Player” rule that allows NBA Development League affiliates to acquire players that were waived from their affiliate’s training camp, and who do not otherwise have their rights held by another team.
The Los Angeles D-Fenders have acquired Mardy Collins and an 8th-round 2012 NBA Development League Draft pick from the Iowa Energy, it was announced today by General Manager Glenn Carraro. In exchange, the D-Fenders sent their third round pick as well as Tulsa’s original third round pick (previously acquired in the Elijah Millsap trade) in the 2012 NBA D-League Draft.
Selected in the first round (29th overall) by New York in the 2006 NBA Draft, Collins, who was acquired by the Energy after participating in the Washington Wizards training camp, has played in 189 games (31 starts) over four NBA seasons for the Knicks and Los Angeles Clippers, averaging 3.9 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists. Most recently, Collins played with the Jiangsu Nangang Dragons (China-CBA) before joining the Wizards preseason roster.
The Texas Legends came to an agreement with Greg Ostertag and he will make his debut Thursday against Rio Grande Valley.
Ostertag spent most of his NBA career with the Utah Jazz and was one of the the best shot-blockers in the league, swatting a shot every 11.4 minutes of playing time.
"I missed playing,'' Ostertag said. "I shouldn't have quit when I did and I feel like I got to give it one last shot to see if I can make it happen.
"I know there's a lot of naysayers out there who think I couldn't play when I was younger and how am I going to be able to play now? But I'm going to give myself a month or two to get in really good shape and see what happens.''
Walker Russell of the Fort Wayne Mad Ants was today named NBA Development League Performer of the Week for games played Nov. 25 – Dec 4.
A 6-0, 175-pound guard out of Jacksonville State who has been in training camp with the New York Knicks, Russell led Fort Wayne to a 2-1 record for the week, averaging 20.3 points, 11.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds.
