Terry Stotts has added Dale Osbourne to the coaching staff of the Portland Trail Blazers.
“I'm very excited about Dale joining our staff,” said Stotts. “His diverse coaching background and experience at the college and D-League level will be very valuable in the development of our younger players both on the court and off.”
Osbourne joins the Trail Blazers from the Tulsa 66ers, where he served as head coach of the Oklahoma City Thunder’s NBA Development League affiliate.
The Bakersfield Jam have promoted Brian Levy to Assistant General Manager.
Levy spent last season serving in the role of Director of Player Personnel, helping the Jam achieve its most successful season in franchise history by reaching the semifinal round of the 2012 NBA D-League Playoffs.
“I am pleased to announce Brian’s promotion to Assistant General Manager,” said Bakersfield Jam Head Coach Will Voigt. “He has been a tremendous help to me in assessing players for our team, and I am grateful to have him on board for another season.”
Levy joined the Jam in 2010, serving as the Head Video Coordinator for the 2010-2011 season. He was then named Director of Player Personnel for the 2011-12 season, and will now serve as Assistant General Manager for the 2012-13 season.
Eric Musselman hopes to return for a third stint as head coach of the Venezuelan national team.
"I would like to continue with the national team," said Musselman. "I feel a special tie with the players and the Venezuelan federation.”
Musselman plans to speak again with Venezuelan Basketball Federation president Carmelo Cortez to discuss his contract, which expired after the World Olympic Qualifying Tournament in July.
Venezuela failed to advance to the knockout stage of the tournament, registering a loss to Lithuania in the preliminary round.
"(Cortez) received me and my wife in the new offices of the Federation just days after our game against Lithuania," Musselman said. "We had a productive meeting. I'm sure we'll talk soon."
Scott Schroeder has accepted a position as Director of Basketball Operations for the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the D-League.
Schoreder ran the popular D-League blog Ridiculous Upside.
Schroeder is the latest member of the media to work for the D-League, following Sebastian Pruiti who went from NBAPlaybook to becoming an assistant coach for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
