Cavs Assign Kay Felder To D-League

The Cleveland Cavaliers have assigned guard Kay Felder to the Canton Charge, the Cavaliers exclusively owned and operated NBA Development League team.

Felder has played in one game for the Charge this season (12/28/16) scoring a game-high 33 points while grabbing seven rebounds and dishing seven assists in 38 minutes in a win over Greensboro in Canton.

Felder has appeared in 22 games for the Cavs this season, averaging 5.1 points in 10.6 minutes per game.

Damon Jones Joins Cavs' Coaching Staff For Playoffs

Damon Jones has been added to the Cleveland Cavaliers' coaching staff for the playoffs.

Jones is currently an assistant with the Canton Charge of the D-League.

Jones is expected to join Tyronn Lue's bench at the conclusion of Charge's season.

Last season, LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and J.R. Smith repeatedly sought out Jones' assistance in helping correct subtle mechanics of their jump-shots.

Quinn Cook Named D-League Rookie Of The Year

Quinn Cook of the Canton Charge was named the 2015-16 NBA Development League Rookie of the Year.

The award, voted on by the league’s 19 head coaches, recognizes the first-year professional who most significantly contributed to his team’s success during the season.

Cook (6-2, 179, Duke) led the Charge to a 31-19 season by averaging team highs of 19.6 points and 5.4 assists to go with 3.9 rebounds in 43 games (37 starts). He shot 47 percent from the field and connected on a team-high 86 three-pointers.

Nick Minnerath Named D-League Player Of The Week

Nick Minnerath of the Canton Charge has been named NBA Development League Performer of the Week for games played Monday, Feb. 22 through Sunday, Feb. 28. The honor is the first of Minnerath’s career.

Minnerath (6-9, 215, Detroit Mercy) led Canton to a 3-0 week, averaging 25.3 points (sixth in the league) on 60.5 percent shooting (26-for-43) to go with 8.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists. He scored at least 20 points in three consecutive games for the second time this season, helping push Canton’s winning streak to 12.

On Feb. 26, he recorded a double-double with 26 points and 10 rebounds in a 107-96 victory over the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. On Feb. 28, he tallied 29 points on 10-of-13 shooting to go with five rebounds and two assists.
Minnerath is averaging 18.1 points on 50.8 percent shooting along with 6.7 rebounds
