The Los Angeles D-Fenders have acquired center Jarvis Varnado and a third round pick in the 2015 NBA Development League Draft from the Iowa Energy, in exchange for the D-Fenders’ first and second round picks. 

Varnado was drafted out of Mississippi State in the second round (41^st overall) of the 2010 NBA Draft by the Miami Heat, before signing with Carmatic Pistoia of the Italian Lega Basket Serie A, where he averaged 15.4 points, 8.9 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per game. The 6’9” center split the 2012-13 season with the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat. 

From 2012-2014, Varnado appeared in 45 NBA D-League games for Sioux Falls and Iowa, making 44 starts and averaging 14.3 points, 10.4 rebounds and 4.0 blocks in 31.1 minutes per game. Varnado was selected as an NBA D-League All-Star in 2014, before earning an NBA Call-Up from the Philadelphia 76ers, where he appeared in 23 games with averages of 4.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game

The Reno Bighorns acquired the player rights for former NBA player Jordan Hamilton from the Iowa Energy, along with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers' original second round pick in the 2015 NBA Development League draft.

Iowa will receive the Bighorns 2015 NBA Development League first round draft pick.

The Utah Jazz are lining up the call up of Patrick Christopher from the NBA D-League.

Christopher went to training camp with the Memphis Grizzlies this season and has since played for the Iowa Energy.

The Memphis Grizzlies re-assigned rookie forward/center Jarnell Stokes to the NBA Development League’s Iowa Energy, the Grizzlies’ exclusive D-League affiliate.

During his first assignment in Iowa, Stokes posted 13 points and 13 rebounds in 35 minutes in an exhibition on Nov. 8 vs. Sioux Falls, which was played in Memphis at FedExForum. He was recalled from Iowa on Nov. 10. The 20-year-old has totaled eight points and seven rebounds on 3-of-3 shooting in 21 minutes through six appearances for the Grizzlies this season.
