The Boston Celtics have assigned center Vitor Faverani and guard Vander Blue to the Maine Red Claws of the NBA Development League.

Faverani has appeared in 37 games for the Celtics this season and has recorded 4.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 0.7 blocks in 13.2 minutes per game.

Blue has appeared in three games for the Celtics this season and has totaled five points, three rebounds and an assist in 15 minutes of play.

The Boston Celtics have recalled center Vitor Faverani from their NBA Development League affiliate, the Maine Red Claws.

Faverani, a 6’11” center, appeared in one game for the Red Claws while he was on assignment against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on January 25 and recorded 13 points, seven rebounds, three assists and a block in just under 26 minutes of action.

"This is just a quick assignment to get Vitor some more game action," Danny Ainge said in a statement. "He'll be back with the Celtics for shootaround tomorrow morning. This is a great option for any Celtics player to get more in-game experience without missing any Celtics activities, and we expect there will be more of this type of assignment for Celtics players during the remainder of the season."

Faverani has averaged 4.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 0.77 blocks in 13.4 minutes per game for the Celtics this season.

The Texas Legends have acquired the rights of Fab Melo in a four-team trade that sent Daniel Orton and Tyler Brown to the Maine Red Claws, the teams announced on Wednesday.

As additional components of the trade, the Erie BayHawks have traded Mustafa Shakur to the Tulsa 66ers and have received Sean Singletary from Texas.

Melo went to training camp with the Dallas Mavericks in October while Orton played 22 regular season games for the Philadelphia 76ers this season.

The Boston Celtics have assigned Rajon Rondo to the Maine Red Claws of the D-League for a workout.

Rondo will be reassigned to the Celtics at the conclusion of the workout.

“Rajon is progressing terrifically in his rehab and this is the next step,” said Danny Ainge, Celtics President of Basketball Operations. “This is a brief assignment so that Rajon can participate in a workout this afternoon with the Red Claws and he will be called back up to the Celtics upon the conclusion of the workout.”

Rajon Rondo is close to returning to the Boston Celtics, with his first game back from ACL surgery possible within a few weeks.

Rondo is also open to a D-League stint with the Maine Red Claws.

“I’m better than last week when I talked to you guys,” said Rondo. “I’m still getting my endurance but I’m getting pretty close, feeling good, feeling better.”

MarShon Brooks has been assigned to the Boston Celtics' D-League affiliate, the Maine Red Claws.

Brooks has appeared in nine games for the Celtics this season posting averages of 3.2 points and 1.6 rebounds in 6.8 minutes per game

Brooks was a first round pick in the 2011 NBA Draft.
