Andrew Goudelock has been named the 2013 NBA Development League’s Most Valuable Player, as voted by the NBA D-League’s 16 head coaches, for his efforts as a member of the Rio Grande Valley Vipers and Sioux Falls Skyforce.
Goudelock (6-3, 200, College of Charleston) played in 37 games, all starts, for the Vipers this season, averaging 21.4 points to go with 5.8 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 36.7 minutes, while leading the team in scoring 16 times. Selected to play in the 2013 NBA D-League All-Star Game, Goudelock was traded in January to Rio Grande Valley from the Sioux Falls Skyforce, where he played in 14 games.
In all, Goudelock appeared in 52 regular season NBA D-League games, averaging 21.1 points, good for third best in the NBA D-League, to go with 5.2 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 37.1 minutes.
The Sioux Falls Skyforce have acquired guard Dominique Johnson.
Johnson averaged 9.4 points and 2.5 rebounds in 35 games with the Canton Charge this season. He holds NBA Development League career averages of 11.7 points and 3.4 rebounds in 107 games with the Texas Legends (72) and Canton (35). The two-time NAIA All-American averaged 17.2 points and 3.8 rebounds in two seasons (72 games) at Azusa Pacific University.
Demetris Nichols has been named NBA Development League Player of the Month for games played in February.
Nichols (6-8, 215, Syracuse) led Sioux Falls (21-14) to a 7-3 record in February, averaging 22.7 points on 53 percent shooting from the floor, to go with 6.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 35.4 minutes. He scored in double figures in eight of the team’s 10 games, including an NBA D-League-wide season-high 42 points in a 117-112 win over the Iowa Energy on Feb. 19. He recorded one double-double during the month, scoring 26 points and grabbing 11 rebounds in a 115-107 road loss to the Erie BayHawks on Feb. 8.
Dexter Pittman has been recalled from the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the NBA Development League by the Miami Heat.
Pittman was re-assigned to the Heat's D-League affiliate for his third stint on February 3. He was originally assigned to Sioux Falls on December 26 and recalled on January 17 before being re-assigned on January 18 and recalled on Jan. 20.
Pittman has appeared in 15 games (12 starts) with Sioux Falls this season and averaged 12.4 points, 8.8 rebounds, 1.67 blocks and 24.9 minutes while shooting 47 percent from the field.
The NBA D-League has announced their 2013 All-Star teams.
Fourteen of the players have NBA experience and several are currently on NBA rosters.
On the Future All-Star roster are Micah Downs, Courtney Fortson, Ron Howard, Jerome Jordan, Jeremy Lamb, Marcus Landry, Shelvin Mack, Arinze Onuaku, DaJuan Summers and Chris Wright.
On the Prospects All-Star roster are Andrew Goudelock, Damion James, Terrence Jones, Cory Joseph, D.J. Kennedy, James Mays, Jerel McNeal, Demetric Nichols, Tim Ohlbrecht and Henry Sims.
The Miami Heat have reassigned Dexter Pittman to the Sioux Falls Skyforce, Miami’s NBA Development League affiliate.
Pittman (6-11, 285, Texas) returns to Sioux Falls having been assigned twice before this season, when he appeared in 12 games and averaged 13.3 points, 9.2 rebounds and 25.8 minutes.
Demetris Nichols of the Sioux Falls Skyforce has been named NBA Development League Performer of the Week for games played Jan. 14-20.
A 6-6, 211-pound forward out of Syracuse, Nichols led the Skyforce to a 3-0 week, including back-to-back victories over the Texas Legends on Jan. 18 and 19. He averaged 25.7 points while shooting 74 percent from the floor to go with 6.3 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 37.7 minutes.
He scored a season-high 26 points in a 99-83 win over the Santa Cruz Warriors on Jan. 15, matching that total in a 102-93 victory over the Legends on Jan. 19.
The Miami Heat have reassigned Dexter Pittman to the Sioux Falls Skyforce, Miami’s NBA Development League affiliate.
Pittman has appeared in four games for Miami this season, averaging 1.5 points, 1.8 rebounds and 3.0 minutes. He returns to the Skyforce having played in 22 games on assignment as a rookie in 2010-11, when he averaged 14.5 points, 8.2 rebounds and 27.8 minutes.
In his previous assignment, he appeared in 10 games and averaged 12.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.9 blocks. He recorded double-doubles in five games, his most recent a 15-point, 12-rebound performance in a 99-83 win over Santa Cruz on Jan 15.

Luke Harangody (Fort Wayne Mad Ants), Jerome Jordan (Reno Bighorns), Jeremy Lamb (Tulsa 66ers on assignment from the Oklahoma City Thunder), Shelvin Mack (Maine Red Claws) and DaJuan Summers (Maine Red Claws) were selected to the First Team All-NBA D-League Showcase First Team.
Bakerfield’s Damion James, now of the Brooklyn Nets, Austin’s Cory Joseph, on assignment from the San Antonio Spurs, Reno’s Marcus Landry, Sioux Falls’ Dexter Pittman, on assignment from the Miami Heat, and Texas’ Chris Roberts comprise the Second Team.
The Los Angeles’ Courtney Fortson, Fort Wayne’s Ron Howard, Erie’s D.J. Kennedy, Rio Grande Valley’s Terrence Jones, on assignment from the Houston Rockets, and Tulsa’s Daniel Orton, on assignment from the Oklahoma City Thunder, round out the third team.
Dexter Pittman averaged 14.5 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.73 blocks and 1.2 assists in 27.7 minutes while shooting 53.6 percent from the field during the 10-11 D-League season.
An all-time high eleven NBA teams will have single NBA D-League affiliates including first-year partnerships between the Boston Celtics and Maine Red Claws and the Portland Trail Blazers and Idaho Stampede.
