Tornike Shengelia, playing for the Springfield Armor on assignment from the Brooklyn Nets, has been named NBA Development League Performer of the Week for games played Jan. 21-27.
Shengelia played in two of the Armor’s four games last week, helping the team to a 2-2 record. He began his assignment, the second of his career, by tying an Armor franchise record with 39 points on 17-of-21 shooting to go with a game-high 18 rebounds and six assists in a 123-115 home win of the Maine Red Claws. He finished the week with a 24-point, 13-rebound performance in a 111-100 victory over the visiting Santa Cruz Warriors.
For the week, Shengelia averaged 31.5 points, 15.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 41.0 minutes. He shot 76 percent from the floor (25-of-33) while going 4-of-7 (57 percent) from behind the three-point line.

The Brooklyn Nets have recalled forward Tornike Shengelia and guard Tyshawn Taylor from the Springfield Armor of the NBA Development League.
In three games for the Armor this season, Shengelia holds D-League averages of 28.3 points, 13.7 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 3.0 steals per game. Shengelia posted a franchise-high tying 39 points to go along with 18 rebounds on January 24 vs. Maine.
Taylor has averaged 26.5 points, 7.5 assists and 4.3 rebounds in four D-League contests this season.
The Brooklyn Nets have reassigned forward Tornike Shengelia and guard Tyshawn Taylor to the Springfield Armor of the NBA Development League.
Shengelia, acquired from the Philadelphia 76ers after being drafted 54th overall in the 2012 NBA Draft, has appeared in 13 games for the Nets this season, averaging 1.4 points, 0.8 steals and 0.7 rebounds per game.
Taylor, a rookie out of Kansas, has made 21 appearances for the Nets on the year, averaging 1.6 points, 0.2 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game.
The Springfield Armor have acquired forward Paul Carter and a fifth round pick in the 2013 NBA D-League Draft from the Santa Cruz Warriors in exchange for Shawn Taggart.
Carter (6-8, 200, Illinois-Chicago) has appeared in nine games this season with the Idaho Stampede, averaging 3.0 points and 2.7 rebounds in 11.3 minutes per game. Carter was traded from Idaho to Santa Cruz on Jan. 2 and had yet to appear in a game with the Warriors.
During the 2011-12 season, Carter appeared in 34 games (21 starts) after joining the Stampede following a stint in the Utah Jazz’s training camp. Carter averaged 10.8 points on .477 shooting, 5.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 23.4 minutes per game.
Taggart appeared in 13 games (five starts) with the Armor this season after being selected in the fifth round (78th overall) in the 2012 NBA D-League Draft. He held averages of 8.1 points and 4.8 rebounds in 20.2 minutes per game.
The Springfield Armor have reacquired forward Dennis Horner and claimed guard Thomas Baudinet from the NBA D-League’s available player pool. To make room on the roster, the Armor waived Chas McFarland and deactivated Shawn Vanzant.
Horner returns to Springfield after earning All-NBA Development League Third Team honors following the 2011-12 season. Horner appeared in 25 regular season games with the Armor (20 starts), averaging 17.0 points on .471 shooting and 8.5 rebounds in 31.4 minutes per game.
Baudinet (6-3, 190, St. Anselm) appeared in 37 games (10 starts) during the 2011-12 NBA D-League season with the Iowa Energy and Fort Wayne Mad Ants, averaging 7.2 points on .455 shooting in 17.9 minutes per game.
