Springfield Armor forward Willie Reed will sign with the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday for the rest of the season, agent Joel Bell told RealGM on Sunday afternoon.
Reed averaged 14.8 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.8 blocks for Springfield this season, posting 12 double-doubles in 48 games. At 6-foot-10, Reed will bolster what’s already a big, physical Grizzlies frontcourt.
Future terms of Reed’s contract with the Grizzlies are still being worked out, Bell said. Reed is expected to be available by Wednesday night’s home game against the Utah Jazz and will be eligible for the playoffs.
Reed, 22, played two seasons at St. Louis before going undrafted in the 2011 NBA draft.
The Springfield Armor have acquired guard Dominique Jones from the NBA Development League’s available player pool.
Jones (6-5, 215, South Florida) appeared in 29 games (three starts) with the Dallas Mavericks this season, averaging 4.0 points and 2.9 assists in 11.7 minutes per game before being waived on March 9.
Jones has also appeared in 13 games (10 starts) during two NBA D-League assignments with the Texas Legends, the Mavericks’ affiliate, and holds career NBA D-League averages of 17.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.4 assists in 33.8 minutes per game.
Willie Reed of the Springfield Armor has been named NBA Development League Performer of the Week for games played March 11-17.
Reed (6-10, 220, St. Louis) recorded three double-doubles last week, including a 21-point, 20-rebound outing in a 107-80 win over the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on March 17. For the week, he averaged 20.0 points on 67 percent shooting from the floor, to go with 17.3 rebounds, 3.3 blocks and 34.6 minutes as the Armor went 2-1.

The Brooklyn Nets have reassigned Tornike Shengelia and Tyshawn Taylor to the Springfield Armor, the Nets’ NBA Development League affiliate.
In his previous four assignments to Springfield, Shengelia played in seven games, averaging 25.1 points, 8.6 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 37.3 minutes. He was named NBA D-League Performer of the Week on Jan. 28.
During his previous assignment to Springfield he played in five games, averaging 25.4 points, 7.6 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 40.6 minutes.
Free agent guard Dominique Jones has signed with the Springfield Armor of the NBA D-League, his agent told RealGM.
While Jones received interest from two NBA teams since being waived by the Dallas Mavericks on March 9, the 24-year-old believes playing in the D-League will allow him to log significant minutes and continue to develop. Jones is still open to signing with an NBA team before the end of the season, preferably under a contract that is partially guaranteed for next season.
Jones will report to Springfield on Monday and is expected to play Tuesday against the Erie BayHawks.
“Dominique just wants to keep growing, keep improving, and he’ll get a chance to do that now,” agent Michael Hodges said Friday.
The former first-round pick acquired by the Mavericks in the 2010 draft, Jones averaged four points and almost three assists in 29 games this season. He averaged 17.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.4 rebounds in 13 games over the past two seasons with the Texas Legends, the Mavericks’ D-League affiliate.

This is the fourth D-League assignment this season for Shengelia. In six games with the Armor, Shengelia is averaging 26.8 points, 9.2 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game.
This is the third time this season Taylor has been assigned to the Armor. In four games with Springfield, Taylor is averaging 26.5 points, 7.5 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game.
The Springfield Armor have acquired Edwin Ubiles from the Santa Cruz Warriors in exchange for the Armor’s second round selection in the 2013 NBA D-League Draft and a fifth round draft pick that was originally acquired by the Armor from the Warriors on Jan. 7 in a trade that sent Shawn Taggart to Santa Cruz and Paul Carter to Springfield.
To make room on the roster, the Armor waived guard Christian Polk. The active roster now stands at 10.
Ubiles (6-6, 204, Siena) captured NBA D-League Rookie of the Year honors following the 2011-12 season after averaging 19.6 points on 50.3% shooting, 5.0 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 34.3 minutes in 41 games (all starts) with the Dakota Wizards.

The Armor have acquired forward Paul Carter and a fifth round pick in the 2013 NBA D-League Draft from the Santa Cruz Warriors in exchange for Shawn Taggart.
An all-time high eleven NBA teams will have single NBA D-League affiliates including first-year partnerships between the Boston Celtics and Maine Red Claws and the Portland Trail Blazers and Idaho Stampede.
