Bo McCalebb Has Best Chance For NBA Signing, Several Teams Interested

With one season remaining on his contract with Fenerbahçe Ülker of Turkey, European League star Bo McCalebb is more inclined than ever to pursue signing in the NBA and has several teams interested, sources told RealGM.

Unlike past seasons, McCalebb has a complete contract buyout in his deal, no future guaranteed money beyond one season and a less cost prohibitive escape clause to settle, sources said. McCalebb has played six professional seasons overseas, where his stardom soared with Montepaschi Siena. The San Antonio Spurs had pitched an offer to the six-foot guard in 2012 and a deal wasn’t reached, but they could need depth in the backcourt this offseason given the possible departure of Patty Mills.

Several of McCalebb’s NBA suitors now are franchises that have maintained interest over the years, and a potential signing has been long-awaited.

“It is the right time for a move to happen, and the stars are aligning for McCalebb with his contract and the interested teams,” one source with knowledge told RealGM. “It’s his best chance.”

McCalebb, 29, played his college basketball in his home city at the University of New Orleans. He was a top player in each of the past two EuroBasket tournaments, utilizing his blend of speed and shooting and stealing the spotlight at times from the NBA’s prominent international stars. McCalebb won’t play for an NBA team in July summer league.

In his second season with Fenerbahçe, McCalebb averaged 11 points, three assists and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 56.9 percent from the field.

Fenerbahce Denies Talks For Bogdan Bogdanovic

Bogdan Bogdanovic is signed with Partizan through the 15-16 season, but he has been linked to a potential move to Fenerbahce for the 14-15 season.

Bogdanovic will be eligible for the 2014 NBA Draft.

Fenerbahce responded in a press release.

"Today, at home and abroad on several internet sites it was reported that Partizan player Bogdan Bogdanovic will be transferred to Fenerbahce Ulker, news that don’t reflect the truth. Right now, our team is focused only on the season, trying to achieve success in TBL and Euroleague. Recently news like these are aiming at the harmony of our team and should not be treated as news.”
