Euroleague GMs Expect Real Madrid, CSKA, Olympiacos, Fenerbahce Ulker To Reach Final Four

In a survey of Euroleague general managers, Real Madrid, CSKA, Olympiacos and Fenerbahce Ulker were voted for the teams most likely to reach the Final Four.

Barcelona was fifth with just 25 percent compared to 87.5 percent for fourth ranked Fenerbahce Ulker.

Fenerbahce Ulker has begun the Top 16 stage with two losses.

Vassilis Spanoulis Named Euroleague Player Of The Week

Vassilis Spanoulis has been named Euroleague Player of the Week for Top-16, Round 1.

Spanoulis had 28 points, nine assists and five assists in Olympiacos' 95-82 win over Fenerbahce Ulker. Spanoulis shot 9-for-15 from the floor, 4-for-8 from three and 6-for-7 from the line in the game.

Spanoulis has one Player of the Week honors once before this season.

Vassilis Spanoulis of Olympiacos Piraeus has been named Euroleague MVP for Week 8 of the regular season.

Spanoulis scored 24 points to go with seven assists and two rebounds in Olympiacos' 105-103 win over Bayern Munich in overtime.

Bryant Dunston Named Euroleague MVP For R.S. Round 3

Olympiacos Piraeus forward Bryant Dunston was named Euroleague MVP Regular Season Round 3.

The 27-year-old Dunston played a major role in his team’s come-from-behind 88-83 victory over FC Bayern Munich, amassing 19 points, 8 rebounds and 3 blocked shots for a performance index rating of 33, which was the most of any player in any of the round’s 12 games.

Sources: Olympiacos Signs Ioannis Papapetrou

Olympiacos BC has signed Ioannis Papapetrou to a five-year deal worth approximately $2 million, according to sources with knowledge of the deal.

Papapetrou averaged 8.3 points and 4.4 rebounds as a freshman for the Texas Longhorns last season.

Papapetrou recently played for the Greek national team at the U-20 European Championships.

Josh Childress Narrows Interest To Three NBA Teams

Free agent forward Josh Childress is receiving strong interest from three teams on a potential veteran’s minimum deal, a league source told RealGM.

Childress has focused his career on the NBA, and he rejected a lucrative offer from European League powerhouse Olympiacos this offseason for an opportunity to stay in the league, a source said.

At 6-foot-8, Childress established himself as an active defender and slasher in four years with the Atlanta Hawks, but he averaged just one point in 14 games for the Brooklyn Nets last season. The Philadelphia 76ers and Sacramento Kings are known as firm suitors for wing free agents.

Childress, 30, has averaged 9.2 points and 4.8 rebounds over seven NBA seasons.

Hawks Agree To Two-Year Deal With Pero Antic

The Atlanta Hawks have agreed upon a two-year deal with Pero Antic, according to a report from TalkBasket.com's George Kioussis.

Antic was most recently with Olympiacos.

The second season of Antic's deal will be non-guaranteed.

Spanoulis, Olympiacos Repeat As Euroleague Champions

Olympiacos has defeated Real Madrid by a final score of 100-88 to win the 2013 Euroleague championship.

Olympiacos also won the Euroleague last season, defeating CSKA in the title game in Istanbul.

Vassilis Spanoulis was named MVP of the Final Four, the third time he has won the honor.

Real Madrid started the first quarter strong, holding a 27-10 lead after the first 10 minutes of the game. Olympiacos cut the lead to four at halftime and outscored Real Madrid by 12 points in the fourth quarter after tying the game after three quarters.

Spanoulis had 22 points, four assists and two rebounds in the game, while Acie Law had 20 points and five turnovers.

Rudy Fernandez led Real Madrid with 21 points.

Spanoulis averaged 14.7 points per game (4th overall) and 5.59 assists (3rd overall).

Spanoulis is a two-time MVP of the Euroleague Final Four.
