Nikola Mirotic, Bulls Begin Working On Deal

Nikola Mirotic has secured a $3 million buyout with Real Madrid in order to come to the Chicago Bulls, reports HoopsHype.

Mirotic was the 23rd overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft and has since developed into one of Europe's best forwards.

Because he was drafted three years ago, Mirotic is not subject to the rookie salary-cap scale, and the Bulls likely will need to use some of their cap space to contribute to his buyout and sign him to a long-term contract.

The Bulls can pay up to $600,000 toward Mirotic's buyout, but anything over that amount would be considered a signing bonus and be charged to the Bulls' cap.

Shams Charania of RealGM reports that the two sides believe they don't have significant ground to cover, but no deal is imminent.

The Bulls' decision to move forward with Mirotic at this point signals that they will be moving on without Carlos Boozer next season. Boozer can either be amnestied or traded.

Lamar Odom Out For Remainder Of Spanish Season With Back Injury

Lamar Odom suffered a back injury after just two games in Spain with Baskonia.

Odom's personal doctors have ruled him unfit to play for two months, ending his season.

After a long layoff, Odom signed a two-month deal with Baskonia on Feb. 18.

"Lamar Odom as an athlete, he is a little embarrassed," Odom said. "But, at the same time, I am proud to be able to say that I am hurt and that I have a team that understands that I am injured and they are still supportive. That means a lot."

Baskonia said it would "leave the door open" to re-signing Odom when he recovers.

Saric: Best To Stay In Europe For Development

Dario Saric will wait until after the current season to decide whether he will enter the NBA Draft, or possibly move from KK Cibona to either Turkey or Spain.

“I will not decide anything until the end of the season” said Saric. “In the summer I will determine my future. For my development the best is to stay in Europe but we’ll see what happens. I don’t even have an agent right now. I will talk with my family but I will make the final decision."

“There is not only Efes in the game. The other options are still Barcelona and Real Madrid” said Predrag Saric to 24Sata. “If Lorbek and Nachbar leaves Barcelona and if Mirotic leaves Real Madrid, they may have room for Dario” added the father of the player. “I think Dario should play in Europe two more seasons. He has to play. If he goes to a big club without guaranteed playing time, then it is better to stay with Cibona”

Lamar Odom To Sign With Laboral Kutxa

Lamar Odom has agreed to a contract with Laboral Kutxa in Spain.

Odom plans to play the rest of the season with the Spanish club before deciding whether to attempt an NBA comeback.

Odom dealt with off-court issues last summer and early in the season.

Odom won two NBA championships with the Lakers in 2009 and 2010 and the Sixth Man of the Year award in 2011.
