Gary Moore, the guard's manager, said Iverson has not been contacted by any NBA team with training camps set to open in less than two weeks.

"We're very astonished, to say the least, that not one team has contacted us with any interest," Moore said. "I just don't understand it."

Moore said there is "legitimate interest" between Iverson and a team in China to work out a deal.

FIBA Wants NBA To Tweak Goaltending Rule

Sep 10, 2010 8:32 AM

FIBA, the governing body of international basketball, would like to see the NBA change its goaltending rules to allow players to knock the ball off the rim.

Patrick Baumann, the secretary general of FIBA, made the comment Thursday before the final two quarterfinal games at the FIBA World Championship.

FIBA rules allow players to knock the ball off the rim after it touches the cylinder, but that would be a goaltending violation in the NBA.

Kanter's Turkish Team Paid Him $100k In Cash And Benefits

Sep 8, 2010 4:36 PM

Top Kentucky recruit Enes Kanter, received more than $100,000 in cash and benefits over three years from the professional team he played for here, according to the team?s general manager.

Nedim Karakas, said the club had given banking and housing records to the N.C.A.A. that show Kanter received benefits that could jeopardize his amateur status for college basketball.

?I am sorry for telling this for Enes, but we cannot lie if someone asks the whole story, we cannot hide,? Karakas said.

Fenerbahce stands to benefit if Kanter is declared ineligible to play college basketball since the team would be due a transfer fee if he plays in Europe next season, but Karakas said turning in the documents to the N.C.A.A. eligibility center was a matter of telling the truth.

?This is real, and the N.C.A.A.?s main goal is to protect the amateur side of sports,? Karakas said.

Kanter was one of the stars of the 2010 Nike Hoop Summit.

Singleton Leaves Wizards For China

Sep 7, 2010 7:22 AM

James Singleton has signed on to play next season in China with the Xinjiang Gyang Hui Flying Tigers.

The Wizards had some interest in bringing Singleton back for the league minimum.

Washington acquired Singleton in their deadline deal with Dallas in February.

"Playing with the Wizards was a great experience," Singleton said.

"They gave me a chance to play because of my talent and work ethic, and not sit behind a name. I'm going back overseas to play basketball because of my passion, not the pay or the fame. Overseas, they allow players to play, grow and mature."
