Lucas Nogueira showed promise while playing for the Atlanta Hawks' summer league team, but the first round pick will "most likely" return to play in Spain next season.

The Hawks claimed Gustavo Ayon off waivers.

The Hawks had been debating whether it was better for Nogueira’s development to play major minutes overseas or play limited minutes while on a weight-training program in Atlanta.

Ayon was released by the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday with their glut in the frontcourt, but the 6-foot-10 big man received heavy interest due to his inside presence and reasonable contract worth $1.5 million next season.
 
Ayon is expected to get a fair trail to earn a spot in a Hawks rotation that has lacked a young, developing center alongside Al Horford.
 
Ayon, 28, has averaged 4.8 points and 4.3 rebounds in two NBA seasons. The Hawks will be his fourth team.

Greg Oden could choose his free agent destination as soon as Monday, his agent, Bill Duffy told NBA.com.

Oden is weighing whether to sign with a contender or a rebuilding team.

“We’ve looked at all the scenarios,” Duffy said. “There might be less pressure if he tries this with a team that’s rebuilding. Then again, the quality of the medical staff will matter. Maybe a winning team has chemistry that’s good or his role would be clearly defined.”

Oden has worked out for Miami, New Orleans, Sacramento, San Antonio, Atlanta and Dallas.

“Physically, he’s awesome,” Duffy said Friday afternoon. “We’re very happy with where he is. [His health and impact are] going to depend on monitoring him and his minutes.”

The Atlanta Hawks have agreed upon a two-year deal with Pero Antic, according to a report from TalkBasket.com's George Kioussis.

Antic was most recently with Olympiacos.

The second season of Antic's deal will be non-guaranteed.

Greg Oden will make his free agent decision next week.

Oden will choose between the Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs, Sacramento Kings, New Orleans Pelicans, Atlanta Hawks and Dallas Mavericks.

The Heat and Spurs have long been considered the favorites to sign Oden.

The Sacramento Kings defeated the Atlanta Hawks by a final score of 93-87 in Summer League play on Friday.

Ben McLemore scored 27 points with nine rebounds, while Ray McCallum had 12 points, 11 assists and six rebounds.

Mike Scott had 25 points and 10 rebounds for the Hawks.

The Portland Trail Blazers defeated the Atlanta Hawks by a final score of 70-69 in Summer League play on Wednesday.

Thomas Robinson had 13 points, 17 rebounds and two blocks. C.J. McCollum scored 19 points on 5-for-14 shooting.

Mike Scott had 19 points and nine rebounds for the Hawks.

The San Antonio Spurs beat the Atlanta Hawks by a final score of 96-87 in Summer League play on Monday.

Nando De Colo had 19 points and eight assists to lead the Spurs, while Aron Baynes had 19 points and 15 rebounds.

Mike Scott had 27 points and seven rebounds for the Hawks.

Elton Brand has agreed to sign with the Atlanta Hawks on a one-year deal.

Brand played last season for the Dallas Mavericks.

The Philadelphia 76ers used their amnesty provision on Brand last offseason.

Dennis Schroder had nine points, eight assists, four rebounds and four steals, while John Jenkins scored 19.
