Clippers' Livingston Dislocates Knee Cap

Feb 27, 2007 12:33 AM

Clippers point guard Shaun Livingston dislocated his left knee and had to be wheeled off the court on a stretcher during Monday night's game against the Charlotte Bobcats.

The three-year veteran was driving to the basket on a fast break and went up from a layup. He missed the shot and came down hard on his left foot in a contorted manner and collapsed in obvious pain as the Staples Center crowd grew hushed.

He had X-rays taken, which were negative, then was driven to Centinella Freeman Regional Medical Center in Marina del Rey for further evaluation.

Jordan Says Bobcats Will Spend What It Takes To Win

Feb 19, 2007 8:45 PM

Charlotte Bobcats part-owner Michael Jordan says he's disappointed with his team's record this season and vows that Bobcats management will "spend what it takes" to attract top talent in the offseason.

In a letter to be mailed to season ticket holders this week, Jordan goes into detail about the state of the team for the first time since he bought a minority stake last June and was given the final say in all personnel decisions.

"As excited as I am about the future, if you know anything about me, you know how much I hate to lose ? and I speak for all the owners in that regard," wrote Jordan, who holds the title of managing member of basketball operations. "But we are able to temper this disappointment with thoughts of our youth and inexperience, and the idea that we will continue to improve ? hopefully, more quickly than even we expect. With that said, we remain committed to our plan to grow the franchise through the draft and the addition of key free agents."

Bickerstaff Asks May To Tolerate Knee Pain

Feb 14, 2007 3:24 AM

Bobcats forward Sean May will miss his 10th straight game tonight because of a bone bruise on his right knee. By not playing tonight, May gets six extra days of rest because of the All-Star break.

But sooner or later, Bobcats coach Bernie Bickerstaff says, May has to accept playing in pain.

"Most guys in this league have some kind of pain," Bickerstaff said. "Guys have to play through it."

Bickerstaff compared May's situation to that of teammate Raymond Felton, who has an ankle that throbs all the time.

"It's a mental toughness thing," Bickerstaff said.

May said the cartilage that's been removed from his right knee makes him more susceptible to bone bruises. He understands that pain comes with this job, but he also illustrated just how injured he was, after trying to practice Monday.

"I couldn't walk up my steps," May said, "because my knee was so stiff."
