Lonny Baxter Gets 60-Day Prison Term

Aug 31, 2007 12:33 PM

A federal judge sentenced former Bulls draft pick Lonny Baxter to 60 days in prison on Friday for illegally shipping firearms.

The decision could affect the 28-year-old Baxter's upcoming season with a Spanish league team.

U.S. District Judge Peter Messitte based the sentence on Baxter's history with firearms and his actions in the case.

"You are in a sense on injured reserve," Messitte told Baxter. "You have in effect injured yourself."

Bobcats Re-Sign McInnis To One-Year Deal

Aug 29, 2007 5:42 PM

The Bobcats found their backup point guard Wednesday when they re-signed Jeff McInnis to a one-year, $1.2 million contract.

McInnis, who was an unrestricted free agent, averaged 4.3 points and 3.3 assists in 38 games last season as the No. 3 point guard behind starter Raymond Felton and Brevin Knight.

McInnis, who turns 33 in October, will take on a bigger role as Felton's main backup next season after the Bobcats bought out the final year of Knight's contract.

Boston And Charlotte Also Went After Foyle

Adonal Foyle came to terms with the Magic on Wednesday.

Boston and Charlotte also pursued Foyle, but the 10-year veteran made no secret that he favored Orlando because of its proximity to his Caribbean roots. He hails from tiny Canouan, which is among the cluster of islands that make up St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Bobcats Want To Re-Sign McInnis

Aug 7, 2007 11:09 AM

The Charlotte Bobcats want to bring back Jeff McInnis as backup point guard, but it's no given the two sides will agree on a salary.

Bobcats executive vice president Bernie Bickerstaff and McInnis' agent, Steve Kauffman, had discussions Monday about a one-year contract. A Charlotte native, McInnis came to the Bobcats in a January trade from the New Jersey Nets.

He would back up Raymond Felton, after the Bobcats chose to buy out the final season on Brevin Knight's contract.
