Jordan Interested In Bringing Hornets' Nickname Back To Charlotte

Nov 30, 2012 1:58 PM

Michael Jordan has expressed interest in having the Hornets' nickname return to Charlotte.

“It’s definitely an interest down the road, but right now it’s the New Orleans Hornets,” Jordan told the Observer. “We would definitely entertain the opportunity. That’s as much as we can say right now. We’ve heard the community ask the question, and we would listen.”

Many in Charlotte continue to have fondness for the Hornets' teal-and-purple.

The New Orleans Hornets are interested in changing the nickname to something more associated with Louisiana.

The NBA already owns the rights to the name Charlotte Hornets, which would make a transition fairly easy.

The Bobcats were named after initial owner Robert L. Johnson.

Gerald Henderson Out 2-4 Weeks With Sprained Foot

Nov 6, 2012 4:33 PM

Gerald Henderson will miss two to four weeks with a left mid-foot sprain.

Henderson had feared that he had torn a ligament, which would have required surgery.

“It had potential to be worse where the injury was,’’ Henderson said, his foot wrapped in a protective boot. “It’s pretty painful to walk on. It could have been broken. ..

“It could have been a higher degree of tear of ligaments; I could have had surgery. Not anything like that. So I was happy to hear what he said.’’

The Bobcats are relatively deep at shooting guard.

Nov 1, 2012 4:13 PM

Michael Jordan admitted that the Charlotte Bobcats inquired about the availability of James Harden before he was traded by the Oklahoma City Thunder to the Houston Rockets last week.

The Bobcats have been desperate for a franchise cornerstone player over the past few seasons.

Jordan believes the Bobcats remain a viable free agency destination in future seasons.

“I also understand we’ve got to get our house in order, to make that attractive to people,’’ said Jordan.
