Warriors, Bulls, Clippers, Wizards, Bobcats, Hornets, Sonics/Thunder Have Never Paid Luxury Tax

Jul 26, 2012 12:02 PM

There are seven NBA teams that have never had a luxury tax payment since it came into existence with the 1999 collective bargaining agreement.

The Bulls, Warriors, Clippers, Wizards, Bobcats, Hornets and Sonics/Thunder have always been on the receiving end of tax distributions.

While the Clippers, Wizards and Hornets have taken on salary during the 2012 offseason and the Thunder face tax issues if James Harden and Serge Ibaka are signed to new deals, the Bulls and Warriors continue to be tax conscious in their decision-making.

Golden State has just one playoff appearance over that stretch.

Walker, Bobcats Encouraged By Summer League Showing

Jul 22, 2012 11:24 AM

Kemba Walker averaged 15.8 points and a league-high 5.8 assists in five Summer League games with the Bobcats.

"This was a great week for me to get used to coach (Mike) Dunlap's system and play with these guys," Walker said. "It was tough going through all the losing we did last year, and I never want to experience that again. So it was important for all of us to come here to Vegas and play well and get some confidence going into training camp."

The Bobcats went 4-1 and had some success installing Dunlap’s scheme of heavy ball-pressure.

Charlotte led the summer league in turnovers forced with 111.

"I thought this was an extremely important week for us, especially with a new coach," general manager Rich Cho said. "We're trying to change the culture of our franchise, and I thought Coach Dunlap did a great job of setting the tone and getting our players to play hard at both ends of the court."

Dunlap Wants Bobcats To Be Willing Passers, Values Turnover Ratio

Jul 17, 2012 10:56 AM

Mike Dunlap plans to have one of the NBA’s smaller playbooks, with the aim being that the Bobcats instead focus on execution and improvisation.

Dunlap wants Charlotte to be one of the better passing teams in the league and considers turnover ratio the most important statistic in basketball.

“Over 1,000 games, the disparity in winning percentage (between those who do and don’t force more turnovers than they commit) is huge,’’ Dunlap said.
