Lance Stephenson Could Return As Soon As Monday From Pelvic Injury

Dec 26, 2014 12:56 PM

Lance Stephenson will miss the Charlotte Hornets' games this weekend due to his pelvic injury but could return as soon as Monday against the Milwaukee Bucks.

“I think we had a good idea he’d be out longer – it’s a tough (injury) day-to-day; where it is makes it hard to know,” Steve Clifford said. “I didn’t think he’d be ready to play this weekend.

“(Monday) at the very earliest. He hasn’t been able to do anything. He’s just getting to the point where he can even shoot.”

Clifford said even Monday might be a reach for Stephenson's return.

Lance Stephenson Has Strengthened Confidence In Hornets' Partnership

Dec 24, 2014 10:21 AM

As Lance Stephenson partnered with his endorser, AND1, to distribute shoes and clothing to hundreds of kids in his hometown’s Coney Island YMCA on Tuesday, the Charlotte shooting guard has strengthened confidence in fulfilling his partnership with the Hornets this season, league sources told RealGM.

Stephenson and AND1 held a holiday gifting in his native Brooklyn, and Stephenson appeared in a live one-minute video uplifting kids as he nursed an injury in Charlotte.

As RealGM first reported on Dec. 11, Stephenson has received trade inquiries from multiple NBA teams, but the 24-year-old has hoped to remain part of the Hornets. Behind Brian Shaw’s bond with Stephenson, the Denver Nuggets emerged as an interested suitor for him this season, league sources told RealGM.

Stephenson has gotten a level of assurance from the Hornets about a continued partnership, and he’s reaffirmed teammates of his commitment, sources said.

Meanwhile, before the holiday season, Stephenson made a concerted effort to revive his projects where he was born in Coney Island.

As winners of three straight games and survivors of a tough early schedule, the Hornets are three games behind the eighth-seeded Nets. Stephenson has missed the past three games – against Philadelphia, Utah and Denver – and remains day-to-day with a pelvic injury. He's averaging 10.2 points, 6.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists for the season.

Lance Stephenson Has Clashed With Hornets' Teammates

Dec 21, 2014 11:07 AM

Lance Stephenson has clashed with teammates during his early time with the Charlotte Hornets.

Steve Clifford has placed responsibility for Stephenson's adjustment on the Hornets' veterans.

The Hornets have sought out trades for Stephenson, but haven't found an opportunity to their liking. The Hornets want value still in return for Stephenson and aren't merely trying to dump his contract.

Hornets Keeping Lance Stephenson 'For Now'

Dec 19, 2014 12:35 AM

With a dearth of quality trade offers, the Charlotte Hornets are keeping Lance Stephenson "for now," according to sources.

Stephenson has had a problematic start to his tenure with the Hornets after signing a three-year, $27 million contract.

The Miami Heat and Brooklyn Nets are among seven clubs that showed interest in Stephenson.

The Hornets also feel Stephenson's lingering groin injury has prevented him from being at 100 percent this season. The Hornets want to rest Stephenson, let him heal and see if he can either fit in with Charlotte or re-establish his trade value.

Herb Simon 'OK' With Pacers Pursuing Deal For Lance Stephenson

Dec 16, 2014 12:08 PM

Herb Simon said he would personally be fine with the Indiana Pacers pursuing a trade to bring back Lance Stephenson, but left any decisions up to the team's front office.

"I'd be OK with it but it's not up to me. Larry (Bird) has to decide if he fits," Simon said.

Several deciding factors would determine the Pacers' interest in Stephenson, said Simon, and a huge consideration would be chemistry.

"First of all, we don't know if they're really trading him, at least I don't know," Simon said about the Hornets. "I know they made some calls and we would have to (figure out) how he fits back into the team. Those are all basketball decisions and Larry and Kevin (Pritchard) are the best to answer that.

Pacers, Nets, Clippers Show Interest In Lance Stephenson

Dec 14, 2014 6:07 PM

The Charlotte Hornets and Indiana Pacers have held preliminary trade talks on Lance Stephenson, according to sources. A deal is not imminent at this point.

The Hornets have been unwilling to attach a draft pick to Stephenson, which would have helped talks with the Pacers.

The Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Clippers have also researched Stephenson's time with the Hornets, but aren't serious at this point.

The Hornets signed Stephenson in the offseason.
