Point Guard Not Felton's Best Position?

Dec 31, 2007 8:13 PM

Sam Vincent is now of a mind that Raymond Felton doesn't play his best when he has primary responsibility as the team's playmaker. Hence, veteran Jeff McInnis becomes a starter.

"I'm not saying he's not a point guard," Vincent said of Felton. "He's a point guard who is still learning how to best get his game comfortable. In trying to do that, we're losing some of his aggressiveness.

"He's a combo guard who can play the point."

Bobcats Arrive Hour Before Saturday Tipoff

Dec 23, 2007 2:04 AM

Charlotte's game at Milwaukee on Saturday night was delayed 15 minutes after weather problems wreaked havoc on the Bobcats' travel plans.

Dense fog closed the airport in Milwaukee preventing the Bobcats from leaving Charlotte immediately after their 105-95 victory over the New York Knicks on Friday night. Instead, the Bobcats decided to leave the next morning.

The team assembled at Wilson Air Center at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport early Saturday and eventually departed for the Dane County Regional Airport in Madison and a 60-mile ride to the Bradley Center.

They arrived over Madison only to find out that airport was closed, too. After circling 60 minutes and hoping the weather would clear in Milwaukee, the plane flew to Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport for fuel and food for the team. The next leg of the odyssey was an attempt to fly to Green Bay and Austin Straubel International Airport, but that airport was closed as they neared the city.

The Bobcats ended up flying into Chicago's Midway Airport and taking a charter bus to Milwaukee. They arrived at the arena about an hour before the scheduled start time, leading to the short delay.

Illinois Court Sides With Jordan In Legal Battle With Ex-Lover

Dec 12, 2007 9:44 PM

An Illinois Appellate Court ruled in favor of Michael Jordan on Wednesday in a five-year legal dispute with a woman who alleged the basketball great promised her $5 million to keep quiet over the paternity of a child.

The ruling affirmed a Cook County Circuit Court judge's July 2006 decision that any possible agreement between Jordan and Karla Knafel was "unenforceable" and "voidable" either due to "Knafel's fraudulent misrepresentation to Jordan that he was the child's father" or as a "mutual mistake of fact."

"We are pleased that Michael Jordan's position has been vindicated," said Jordan's attorney Frederick Sperling.

Knafel, of Indianapolis, alleged that Jordan agreed in 1991 to pay her $5 million when he retired from the NBA as long as she kept their affair confidential and didn't file a paternity lawsuit.

Jordan denied ever promising to pay and sued Knafel in 2002, claiming attempted extortion. Knafel had agreed to a $250,000 payment to remain silent about their relationship after DNA tests showed the child was not his, Jordan said in court documents.

Boykins Gets Call From Bobcats' Vincent

Dec 10, 2007 1:30 PM

Earl Boykins, one of the NBA?s most prominent remaining free agents, received a call on Thursday from Charlotte Bobcats ? head coach Sam Vincent conveying interest in having the nine-year guard join his club. Boykins? agent Mark Termini confirmed the call to RealGM.

The Bobcats are 7-12 and had lost seven games in row before beating Cleveland on Saturday.

Boykins would give Charlotte much needed depth at either guard position as he averaged 14.6 points and 4.4 assists last season.

Boykins became an unrestricted free agent on July 1st when he did not exercise his $3 million option for the 2007-2008 season with the Milwaukee Bucks . The Eastern Michigan product averaged 23.2 points per game during an 11-game stretch for Denver when the club was without suspended players Carmelo Anthony and J.R. Smith.

A source says that it is unlikely Boykins would sign for anything below the mid-level exception.
