Knicks Looking At Felton, Rodriguez And Atkins?

Dec 30, 2008 3:33 PM

The Knicks are still looking for help in the backcourt, and Charlotte's Raymond Felton, Portland's Sergio Rodriguez, and Denver's Chucky Atkins are reportedly options.

Felton, who makes $4.1 million and will be a restricted free agent this summer, has been shopped by the Bobcats.

New York likes Rodriguez, but the Blazers are going to want something significant in return.

The Nuggets have Atkins buried on the bench, but he is more of a shooter than he is a playmaker.

Cleveland Interested In Gerald Wallace?

Dec 29, 2008 4:30 PM

Bobcats' forward Gerald Wallace's name remains a mainstay in trade rumors, and the Cavaliers could have interest.

Many believe that Wallace would work well off the bench for Cleveland, and a deal involving Eric Snow, Sasha Pavlovic, and Tarence Kinsey might be able to get the job done.

Brook Lopez Was Almost A Bobcat

Dec 27, 2008 6:34 PM

The Bobcats nearly drafted center Brook Lopez, who ended up going to the Nets with the 10th pick, last June.

Charlotte was on the clock at No. 9, and made it clear to Lopez's representatives that he was their choice. That was confirmed by several agents who were in touch with one of Lopez's agents, who went ballistic as soon as the Bobcats picked point guard D.J. Augustin instead.

"It was a pretty big shock. I said, 'I feel like Brady Quinn,'" Lopez recalled, referring to the Cleveland Browns' quarterback who slipped in the 2007 NFL Draft. "I'm sure Brady heard about me saying that -- I'm afraid to meet him now. But I'm glad how it ended up. I feel lucky the way it turned out."

Execs Expect Curry To Be Traded To Bobcats

Dec 24, 2008 11:26 AM

Eddy Curry is getting close to returning to action but his stay in New York could be short lived.  The Bobcats have expressed interest in acquiring Curry, who reportedly would welcome a change of scenery.

"I don't know what's going to happen," Curry said.  "I enjoyed playing for Larry [Brown] when he was here."

The thinking among some NBA executives is that before this season's trade deadline, the Bobcats will send Boris Diaw and Raja Bell to the Knicks in a deal for Curry and possibly David Lee.

Such a move would save the Knicks an additional $2 million in salary cap room for the summer of 2010.

Warriors' Crawford Drops 50 On Bobcats

Dec 20, 2008 11:54 PM

With the Golden State Warriors in desperate need of a win, newcomer Jamal Crawford came up with the answer on Saturday night, dropping 50 points on the Charlotte Bobcats to lead his team to a 110-103 win on the road.

It is not the first time that Crawford has achieved this feat, but it does mean that he has scored at least 50 points for every team he has played for.  Crawford has hit the half century mark for the Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks, and now the Warriors.

Crawford was 14-of-26 from the field, 5-of-8 from 3-point range and made 17 of 18 free throws.

According to ESPN, Crawford becomes just the fourth player in league history to score at least 50 points for three different teams, joining the likes of Wilt Chamberlain (Warriors, 76ers, Lakers), Bernard King (Warriors, Knicks, Bullets), and Moses Malone (Rockets, Bullets, 76ers).

Kings Looking At Bringing Wallace Back?

Dec 20, 2008 5:06 PM

The Kings are rumored to have some interest in bringing Gerald Wallace back to town, but the Bobcats reportedly want Brad Miller in any possible trade.

Charlotte has been looking for someone to pair alongside Emeka Okafor in the paint, and while Sacramento is interested in Wallace, they have a surplus of wing players.

Wallace was claimed from the Kings by the Bobcats in the 2004 expansion draft.

Brown: I'm In Charlotte Because Of MJ

Dec 17, 2008 4:48 PM

Bobcats' coach Larry Brown claims that he is in Charlotte coaching the young team because of his relationship with Michael Jordan.

"I came here because of Michael (Jordan) ? no other reason," Brown said pregame Tuesday. "And I'm not disappointed by what's happened thus far in my relationship with him. I know we'll get this thing done."

Brown admitted that had Jordan not been running the basketball operation of the Bobcats, Brown would be coaching college ball on the West Coast.

"I've always admired him and I always liked him personally. I always thought it would be a wonderful thing to work with somebody like him," Brown said.
