Jimmy Butler's representatives and the Chicago Bulls have started discussions on a possible contract extension.

"I want to be here," Butler said. "I think the Bulls want me here. So however long it takes, as long as we get it worked out. Basketball is my main focus, not really the contract situation."

Butler would become a restricted free agent next offseason if a new deal is not reached.

"They definitely are [working on it]," he said. "I think we're really good right now, moving in the right direction. But that's between them. I just got to be with my teammates and whatever I do between myself and that basket will handle that a lot easier.

"I don't really think about it too much," he said. "I grew up without money. I think I'll be all right for a couple more days. I just play basketball. That's what I know. And if you play basketball the right way, the contract situation will handle itself."

The Chicago Bulls have signed free agent center Solomon Jones to a one-year, veteran-minimum contract, a league source told RealGM.

Jones, an eight-year NBA pro, went to training camp with the Orlando Magic a season ago and made the regular season roster.

At 6-foot-10, Jones has averaged three points and 2.7 rebounds in his career with Atlanta, Indiana, the Los Angeles Clippers, New Orleans, New York and Orlando.

The Chicago Bulls have re-signed center Nazr Mohammed.

Last season with the Bulls, Mohammed saw action in 80 games (one start) and averaged 1.6 ppg and 2.2 rpg in 7.0 mpg. 

He also appeared in two of Chicago’s five playoff contests.

Ray Allen is still undecided about playing next season but has several NBA teams awaiting his decision.

The Washington Wizards are among the teams interested in Allen. The Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Clippers and Chicago Bulls have also reportedly been interested.

The Wizards are "periodically" checking in on Allen.

Taj Gibson privately isn't too thrilled about the prospect of continuing to be a reserve forward, according to sources.

But Gibson has been an upbeat, team-first player who values winning and chemistry too much to make it an issue or distraction.

The Chicago Bulls signed Pau Gasol and Nikola Mirotic this offseason.

Free agent guard E’Twaun Moore has signed a partially guaranteed two-year deal with the Chicago Bulls, a league source told RealGM.

The first season of Moore’s new contract will be 50 percent guaranteed, with a date in next July to determine his guarantee for the 2015-16 season, a source said.

After spending two consecutive seasons with the Orlando Magic, Moore became an unrestricted free agent and had been mulling offers for his next team. The Bulls fit Moore in his ability to score and shoot, and he’s comfortable near his hometown.

Moore, 25, averaged 6.3 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists last season. The 6-foot-4 two-guard is a career 35 percent three-point shooter.

Moore was selected by the Boston Celtics in the second round of the 2011 NBA draft. He spent one season with the Celtics before signing with the Magic as a free agent in 2012.

Ryan Hollins met with the Miami Heat on Friday, according to sources.

The Sacramento Kings, San Antonio Spurs and Chicago Bulls are also interested in Hollins.

Hollins spent the past two seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Chicago Bulls are believed to be among almost a dozen NBA teams to have contacted Ray Allen and his representatives.

The Bulls are likely the only significant contender pursuing Allen who do not have a true starting shooting guard.

Jimmy Butler is slated to start at shooting guard but can play small forward, which would move Mike Dunleavy Jr. to a reserve scoring role where he may be better suited.

Allen was coached by Tom Thibodeau with the Boston Celtics.

Derrick Rose is shooting 8-for-32 (25 percent) from the field in games for Team USA but the Chicago Bulls' guard is remaining upbeat about his health and game.

"I’m loving the way that I’m playing," Rose said. "Of course missing shots, that’s part of the game. But just conditioning-wise and how I’ve been playing defense and low turnovers the last couple games, I’m loving the way that I’m playing. I just have to continue playing defense, get in a better rhythm and knock this rust off along the way.

"I've exceeded my expectations. I’m not sore. My knees are good. I know a lot of people are concerned about that, but I think I’m playing well."

Rose recently played five games in a span of six days. He is averaging 5.4 points in 17.8 minutes.

"Missing layups, that's little rusty stuff that normally comes with not playing for two years," Rose said. "My thing is I know that why I’m missing is because of conditioning. I’m in good condition. But to be in condition to play defense like that fullcourt and still have legs under you for the shot, that’s my thing. But I’m not worried about it at all."

Both Tom Thibodeau and Mike Krzyzewski downplayed Rose's shooting woes.

"He hasn’t played in a long time (regarding shooting), so that was to be expected," Thibodeau said. "The more he plays, the more his timing will come around. Right now he’s missed some layups that are usually automatics. That will come I think as he finds the rhythm of the game."

Derrick Rose says he has no issues as a reserve player for the U.S. national team after appearing to be the favorite to start earlier in the summer.

"We have a deep team," Rose said. "And that’s what makes us so good.

"My role is coming off the bench right now. I'm fine with it. I know no second unit can win when I'm on the court or stick me when I'm on the court."

Rose is using the Team USA experience to improve his basketball shape.

"I’m just trying to put that behind me," Rose said of any trepidation he's feeling as he ramps up his comeback from the two devastating injuries that limited him to 10 games over the past two seasons with the Chicago Bulls.

"I know the questions are going to come and they're going to be there the whole year. So I can’t get tired of it. I’m feeling good right now. Just trying to get in better shape, get in better condition, so that when I do need to score the ball, then it’ll be there."
