LeBron James Sits Against Pacers For Rest

Feb 27, 2015 6:43 PM

LeBron James will miss Friday's game against the Indiana Pacers due to rest.

David Blatt said he made the decision to sit James based on “a combination of things” and not one specific ailment.

“It was not his idea, it was mine. Let’s put it that way,” Blatt said. “We have our hand on the pulse of LeBron and all our players. We’re doing what we have to do here to keep our team healthy all the way through the season.”

The Cleveland Cavaliers are 2-8 this season in games without James.

Kendrick Perkins' Decision Came Down To Cavs, Clippers

Feb 25, 2015 1:00 PM

Kendrick Perkins admitted his choice came down to the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Clippers.

Perkins played AAU basketball with LeBron James and he chose the Cavaliers in part due to his relationship with him.

Perkins also liked the makeup of the roster and could be a good fit, according to Kyrie Irving.

"I think the biggest thing is everybody on this team is selfless and how close we are as a group is unbelievable," said Irving. "It's easy to bring another brother especially when he chooses us and he wants to come here, he wants to be a part of a run that can happen."

LeBron James Jr. Already Has Received College Offers

Feb 25, 2015 11:33 AM

LeBron James Jr., son of LeBron James, has already received interest from colleges despite being just 10 years old.

“Yeah, he’s already got some offers from colleges, it’s pretty crazy," said James. "It should be a violation, you shouldn’t be recruiting 10-year-old kids.”

James continued to talk about his son’s game.

“It’s crazy, he plays just like I did. He has great awareness and he’d rather pass first and set guys up. Most kids nowadays just want to score.”

LeBron: The NBA Is The National Business Association

Feb 23, 2015 12:33 PM

During LeBron James' career, he has increasingly become more involved with the National Basketball Players Association and he is now vice president.

"No need for motivation," James said Friday. "I understand how important our next collective bargaining talks are gonna be. I'm a big part of it, from our side. No extra needed motivation. It's just common sense."

James replaces Roger Mason, who is not an active player and has taken a full-time job with the union.

Chris Paul urged James to take a larger role in union affairs going forward.

"Me and CP is going to be talking through the rest of the year," James said. "He wanted me to be a part of it, and I had no problems as soon as he mentioned it. We're going to be talking through the rest of the season. Our communication goes throughout the season anyway, but it's going to be continued now."

The Executive Committee of the union under Michelle Roberts is star-heavy, whereas the likes of Derek Fisher and Mason had the key roles under Billy Hunter.

Stephen Curry, Andre Iguodala, Kyle Korver, Willie Green and Anthony Tolliver are also current vice presidents.

"(LeBron) actually had thought about running for president (before Paul was elected), but having to respect the process and the work that was involved, he really didn't feel at that time it was the right move, not having been on the board, not having been around guys and been involved in the process," James Jones said. "So this was an opportunity for him to actually become a member on the board, a senior member on the board, lean on his teammates and board members and partner up with Chris Paul to really give the union some direction. And it will be the best direction it's had in a long time."

"I'm my own guy," James said. "I understand how important the business of basketball is. The National Basketball Association is the National Business Association. I understand that. For me, I want to make sure that I'm protected, and the players are protected, and the league. You know, both sides want to continue to build this beautiful league that we have. The All-Star Game was (televised) in more than 200 countries in the world, and we want to continue that. We want to continue the drive what we have. Hopefully both sides can come to an agreement that fits both sides."

Ray Allen Could Decide Not To Play

Feb 20, 2015 4:52 PM

There is a growing belief around the NBA that Ray Allen will not play this season.

Allen still hasn't delivered word through his agent Jim Tanner that he wants to play. Allen would also have to begin the process of choosing a team.

Allen has been working out, but not at a level where he would immediately be able to return to NBA playing shape.

As one general manager said Friday, "It's getting late in the game for this to happen."

Most contenders had an interest in Allen, but several lost the eagerness to check in on his status.
