Cuban Suggests Heisley Is Selling Because Of Displeasure With NBA

Dec 31, 2006 11:30 AM

Michael Heisley and Mark Cuban both received their ownership papers on the same day in April of 2000 and they reportedly feel a kinship with one another.

"I told him it would be a sad day for the NBA if he sells, because he just doesn't take the nonsense," Cuban said. "He's as much in tune with a lot of the business practices as I am, and he doesn't agree with them.

"He's just not as vocal about them. His way of speaking out is by selling the team. I mean, I don't want to speak for him, but that's the sense I get."

Iverson Staying 'In Good Spirits' Throughout Trade-Gate

Dec 15, 2006 12:32 AM

Jerry Stackhouse of the Dallas Mavericks spoke with Allen Iverson on Thursday morning.

"He's in good spirits," Stackhouse said of Iverson. "He's just ready for a change. It's just one of those things that it may be a year too late. It should have happened a couple years ago. But he's welcoming it.

"And no matter where he goes, somebody's going to get a special player with a lot of game."

Terry Experiment Fails

Dec 12, 2006 8:45 AM

Coach Avery Johnson took the fall for trying to see if Jason Terry's considerable shooting skills would be better used by allowing him to stand on the 3-point line and wait for the ball to swing to him.

The trial run failed.

"My thinking coming into this season was to get him off the ball to take advantage of the way he can shoot the ball, but it just didn't work like we thought," Johnson said. "He's not that kind of a player. He's more than a scorer, than strictly just a shooter. And if you're more of a shooter than a stand-still shooter, you need the ball more."

Terry will split the ball-handling with Devin Harris. And it's not a temporary change.

Iverson Deal Could Come Monday Or Tuesday

Dec 10, 2006 9:20 PM

A source close to Allen Iverson has told ESPN.com that the Sixers front office met Sunday to go over the various trade proposals that have come in over the past few days.

One or two three-team trade proposals were expected to be explored Monday, and the source said the Sixers were inclined to finish the deal shortly thereafter, either Monday night or Tuesday.

The Celtics, Mavs and Knicks may have the assets to get a deal done.

The source indicated the Minnesota Timberwolves were not seriously in the running, and the attention being paid to Denver and Boston was being overblown.

"The offers are better than what was out there last summer," the source said.
