David Lee Received Interest From Knicks After Buyout

Mar 31, 2016 12:20 PM

David Lee received interest from the New York Knicks after he was waived by the Boston Celtics.

The Knicks had an open roster spot at the time, but he ended up signing with the Dallas Mavericks.

Lee would consider the Knicks in the offseason.

“It’s my favorite city in the world as far as spending time there in the offseason,’’ Lee said. “A great organization. I always look back with a positive memory.

“[It’s] something we even discussed in the buyout process – had a conversation with them,’’ Lee added. “These next eight games are most important and we’ll deal with that later. … I’ll have some good choices. I’m looking forward to playing three, four more years. I feel my body feels as healthy as ever.”

Mark Cuban Criticizes Referees On Twitter During Middle Of Game

Mar 26, 2016 2:59 PM

Mark Cuban criticized NBA officials on Twitter during the middle of the Dallas Mavericks' 128-120 loss to the Golden State Warriors on Friday.

"Derrick Stafford has mailed it in. That travel was not a travel and the no calls. Rick needs to get a tech," wrote Cuban.

Cuban did not travel with the Mavericks on their four-game road trip.

Cuban then criticized the NBA's referee management team.

"I want a ref mgmt team that demands quality instead of brain scans and one that doesn't have politicians," said Cuban.

Dirk Nowitzki Will Revisit Situation If Mavs Shift To Rebuild In Summer

Mar 25, 2016 4:24 PM

Dirk Nowitzki was asked what he would do this offseason if the Dallas Mavericks decide to shift into a rebuilding mode.

The Mavericks are in danger of missing the playoffs.

Nowitzki could become a free agent if he doesn't exercise his player option with the Mavericks.

"You know, that's something I'll focus on this summer," said Nowitzki. "I'm in the midst of chasing the playoffs here and trying to play well and compete every night. That's something we'll revisit this summer. Obviously I still have a year on the contract, I could choose to opt out, I think that's in the contract, but honestly I haven't really spent a lot of thought on that at all. I really want to make the playoffs bad. I think our fanbase deserves that. It's always a fun part of the year when it's warm out, when the competition is high, so we'd love to be a part of that. Everything else we can come together and talk about after. There's just not enough thought put into that right now. Hopefully we can squeeze in and make the playoffs and we can talk about all that later."

Nowitzki was later asked about his plans by Tim MacMahon.

"I always said I wanted to play those three years to the end," said Nowitzki. "In my mind, after we won the championship, it was always clear I will retire a Mav."

Mavs Believe Chandler Parsons Could Return This Season

Mar 22, 2016 7:41 PM

Chandler Parsons is undergoing surgery on his right knee for a meniscus tear but he could return this season.

Parsons left in the third quarter of Friday's loss to Golden State with what the team said was right hamstring soreness.

The injury isn't considered as serious as the one that knocked Parsons out of the first round of the playoffs last season.

Parsons could resume basketball activities within six weeks, which means he could be available when the playoffs start in mid-April.

Chandler Parsons Likely To Undergo Season-Ending Knee Surgery

Mar 22, 2016 10:51 AM

Chandler Parsons is likely to undergo season-ending surgery this week to address a torn meniscus in his right knee.

Parsons, who sources say will receive a second opinion before scheduling an operation, is expected to be fully recovered in time to resume his regular offseason basketball-workout routine.

This would be the second consecutive season that Parsons' season ends prematurely because of surgery on his right knee.

The injury is not nearly as severe as the cartilage damage he suffered last season that was repaired with a hybrid microfracture procedure on May 1.

Dirk Nowitzki Comfortable With Full Time Move To Center

Mar 16, 2016 12:36 PM

Dirk Nowitzki has thrived since his move to the center position.

Nowitzki was asked about whether he would be comfortable playing the majority of his minutes at center for the rest of his career.

"I'm ready for everything, whatever it may be," said Nowitzki. "I think there's a few dominant forces at center that I'd rather not see, but other than that, we all know that it's not a post-up league anymore. It's a pick-and-roll league, it's a movement league, it's a transition, line-your-guy-up, drive-it league. The league has gone smaller and smaller and smaller, so if that's an option for us, great."

According to data from nbawowy.com, Nowitzki has averaged 24.9 points and 11.1 rebounds per 36 minutes as a center.

The Mavs have outscored their opponents by 69 points in 215 minutes with Nowitzki as the big man.
