George Karl Believes Iguodala Was Jackson's Mole In Playoffs

Nov 29, 2013 6:08 PM

George Karl believes Andre Iguodala was Mark Jackson's "mole" during last season's playoff series between the Denver Nuggets and Golden State Warriors.

"No question," said Karl when asked.

Jackson accused the Nuggets of playing dirty and intentionally attempting to cause an injury to Stephen Curry.

“I got inside information that some people don’t like that brand of basketball and they clearly didn’t co-sign it,” said Jackson to the media at the time.

"I thought Mark had a lot of tricks in that series that were bush- ..." said Karl. "I don’t know. I don’t know what they were. Almost high-schoolish. They were beneath the NBA level. And they might have worked. They might have motivated his young team in a good way. You know, he’d announce a starting lineup and start another guy. C’mon, man. You think we’re not ready for that?"

Knicks, Nuggets Intensifying Negotiations On Shumpert-Faried Trade

Nov 13, 2013 1:47 PM

Discussions surrounding a trade between the New York Knicks and Denver Nuggets centered on Iman Shumpert and Kenneth Faried have intensified in recent days, according to a source.

No deal is imminent, but the Knicks believe they need to make a move to bolster their frontcourt.

Shumpert has fallen out of favor with both James Dolan and Mike Woodson's coaching staff. J.R. Smith will start for Shumpert on Wednesday.

Tyson Chandler is out at least one month after breaking his leg last week while both Amar'e Stoudemire and Kenyon Martin have been placed on a minutes restriction because of their health.

Iguodala's Camp Expressed Interest In Warriors During Playoffs

Nov 13, 2013 11:02 AM

Andre Iguodala sent word to the owners of the Golden State Warriors how much he liked the organization during last season's playoff series while with the Denver Nuggets.

The Warriors acquired Iguodala in a complicated sign-and-trade deal in which they traded away several expiring contracts and future first round picks to the Utah Jazz.

“It’s interesting, during one of the playoff games in Denver, I was sitting on the floor," said Joe Lacob. "It turned out per chance, that one of his cousins was sitting behind us. We (were) introduced and got to know him during the first game. When we came back for the second game, he made it pretty clear that Andre liked the Warriors, liked the organization. Obviously, I couldn’t talk about that at the time, but when he did become a free agent, I didn’t have to sell a lot. He was pretty sold. He sees how we do things, and the word gets out among the players. We get approached all of the time by agents with really big names who say, ‘Hey, when my guy’s contract is up, we’d really like to consider playing for the Warriors, because you’re building something the right way.’ We can’t talk to them, because it’s illegal, but you can see that we’re building something for the future, and people can sense that.”

Kroenke Wants Nuggets To Remain Patient To Evaluate Current Roster

Nov 4, 2013 11:47 AM

The Denver Nuggets have undergone a lot of upheaval over the past few months, losing Masai Ujiri to the Toronto Raptors while firing George Karl.

That followed the Nuggets' decision to trade Carmelo Anthony in 2011.

"The hard part of pro sports is staying patient," Josh Kroenke said in a rare sit-down interview. "We need to stay patient enough to evaluate what we have."

While many other teams are completely rebuilding, the Nuggets hope to improve their roster while remaining competitive.

"If I was a fan, I would want immediate results as well, but my job is to build not only for the short term but the long term," Kroenke said. "Hopefully our fans understand that at some level. And hopefully we've earned a little trust with the Nuggets fans. At the end of the day, we've tried something, and we want to try something else. I hope the fans understand that we're not actively trying to be bad. ... You can fall into an NBA no-man's land. There are certain organizations who just want to be decent. That's not who we are at all."
