J.J. Hickson Continuing To Find Career Path

Dec 23, 2013 12:20 AM

J.J. Hickson is averaging 11.2 points and 8.7 rebounds this season for the Denver Nuggets following his breakout season with the Portland Trail Blazers last season.

Hickson sees his career path much clearly now than he did with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

"My second or third year, I wasn't content with just not messing up," Hickson said. "I wanted to be some type of player in this league, and I think I'm still working at that."

When asked what has flipped the switch for him, Hickson said, "All the hard work I put in," Hickson said. "I figured I'm not working this hard to not mess up, I'm working this hard to be the best player I can be."

Report: Lakers Express Interest In Iman Shumpert, Tyson Chandler

Dec 15, 2013 2:59 AM

The Los Angeles Lakers recently reached out to the New York Knicks to express interest in Iman Shumpert and have interest in Tyson Chandler as well, according to sources.

The Lakers did not inquire about Chandler when they called the Knicks, but they are reportedly weighing whether to propose a Pau-Gasol-for-Chandler deal. No trade is imminent.

The Knicks could consider moving Chandler if J.R. Smith is involved in the trade.

The Knicks have discussed Shumpert in trade conversations with the Denver Nuggets and Toronto Raptors, according to the report.

Mozgov Finding Greater Comfort, Success In Playing For Shaw

Dec 4, 2013 1:07 PM

Timofey Mozgov is averaging 16.5 points and 17.5 rebounds over the past two games as his numbers are up across the board in his third full season with the Denver Nuggets.

"He's getting an opportunity and he's making the most of it," Brian Shaw said.

"He puts you on the court. He trusts in you," Mozgov said of Shaw. "It's better. It's simple."

"He found out pretty quickly what we were asking him to do, and he's going out and doing it," Shaw said. "Set good screens, roll hard to the basket, rim-run on a miss; if you don't get the rebound, you should be the first one down getting good position. And we'll throw the ball inside to you if you do those things. Offensively he's put himself in the right positions to make the plays we need him to make, and defensively his size gives us a different dimension."

Nate Robinson Blames Technical Fouls On Refs' 'Hate' For Him

Dec 1, 2013 1:35 PM

Nate Robinson picked up his second technical foul in as many games on Friday and smirked when asked about the situation, saying he believes the referees dislike him.

“They hate me, they hate me,” Robinson said. “I don’t know why, but it is what it is. I already know I’ve got the target on my back, but I’ll play through it; I don’t care. I really don’t. It doesn’t bother me none. If I get a call, I get a call. If I don’t, I don’t. If I get a tech, hopefully it’s not in the fourth quarter. Hopefully I don’t get any more. But I know I will. It’s nothing new for me.”

Brian Shaw said he will sit down with Robinson to discuss how to better control his emotions.

“He’s always wound up,” Shaw said, with a grin that quickly faded away. “That’s what you get with Nate Robinson. So we just have to continue to keep working on him on that. I told him, let me deal with the referees, you just play the game. But that’s easier said than done.”
