Josh Smith: Kenneth Faried Is 'A Clown'

Oct 30, 2014 7:41 PM

Josh Smith had strong words for Kenneth Faried to Vincent Goodwill of the Detroit News on Thursday.

Smith was responding to a quote from Faried in which he said that Smith "shot them out of the game."

The Denver Nuggets defeated the Detroit Pistons by a final score of 89-79. Smith scored 25 points on 9-for-22 shooting.

"He's a clown, quote me on that," said Smith.

"He fears me. He's scared of me. He knows it's coming."

Nuggets Releasing Quincy Miller

Oct 22, 2014 1:36 AM

The Denver Nuggets have informed Quincy Miller of the organization’s plan to waive the forward, a source with knowledge told RealGM on Tuesday night.

Miller, once a promising young prospect in the Denver franchise, had a partially guaranteed contract for the upcoming season. Miller’s release signals another step toward the Nuggets keeping Alonzo Gee for the regular season roster.

Gee posted seven points on three-of-four shooting, four rebounds and four steals while defending Portland star Damian Lillard well in 27 total minutes in the Nuggets’ loss to the Trail Blazers on Tuesday.

In 52 games last season, Miller, 21, averaged 4.9 points and 2.8 rebounds. He was the 38th overall pick by the Nuggets in the 2012 NBA Draft and has a skill set at 6-foot-10 that will warrant another opportunity.

JaVale McGee Could Miss Start Of Season With Soreness In Tibia

Oct 9, 2014 1:09 PM

JaVale McGee continues to deal with soreness in his left tibia, which he injured last season, and is playing the waiting game.

“What he’s going through right now is when he has practiced and he has done physical work out there on the floor, he’s the only one that’s shown some soreness the next day,” Brian Shaw said. “But from our medical staff they say that’s pretty natural, he’s going to be sore and then he’ll take a day (off) and the soreness will go away and then he’ll do a little bit more the next time.”

McGee is a question mark to be ready for the regular season opener.

“He still may be able to go when the season starts,” Shaw said. “But I’m just judging that based on everybody else so far has not had any soreness, has not had any relapses or taken any backward steps. He’s the only one that’s feeling any pain at all. So that’s why I’m still a little cautious with him. But the other guys look strong, their tests have come back (well), and if you ask them they are ready to go. I think we’re holding them back more than anything else.”

Kenneth Faried, Nuggets Agree Upon Reworked Four-Year, $50M Extension

Oct 8, 2014 11:27 AM

The Denver Nuggets and Kenneth Faried have agreed upon a reworked contract extension worth $50 million-plus over four seasons.

For the Nuggets and Faried, the paring down of an original five-year, $60 million pact on Sunday night ultimately satisfied both parties.

The fact that five-year deals on rookie extensions are only allowable for maximum contracts ultimately moved the sides toward reconstructing the extension.

The sides found common ground on a $12.5 million annual deal that keeps Faried out of the restricted free-agent market in July 2015.

Darrell Arthur Hopes To Re-Sign With Nuggets As Free Agent Next Summer

Oct 4, 2014 5:30 PM

Darrell Arthur is entering the final season of his contract at $3.4 million this season.

Traded to the Denver Nuggets in 2013, Arthur will be an unrestricted free agent at season's end but hopes to remain with the Nuggets.

“Oh yeah, for sure," Arthur said. My family loves it here. My mom was just up here for a couple of weeks and she just loves it – loves the atmosphere, loves the people here. I love the organization, everything. It’s a family organization, they welcome you with open arms. I definitely would like this to be home.

“We’ve just got to play it out and see how it goes."
