Jodie Meeks Suffers Jones Fracture In Right Foot

Oct 30, 2015 10:34 AM

Jodie Meeks suffered a Jones fracture in his right foot in the Detroit Pistons' second game of the season.

Meeks missed the first six weeks of last season with a back injury that came after the first preseason game.

"You feel bad for the guy," Stan Van Gundy said. "Last year, it's the first exhibition game -- he plays one exhibition game and he goes out.

"And now he comes back in great shape, came off a really good last preseason game, and gets a fracture tonight. He's sort of snakebit right now, and I feel for him."

Oct 23, 2015 11:39 AM

The Detroit Pistons have requested waivers on forward Cartier Martin, guard/forward Adonis Thomas and center Jordan Bachynski.

Martin signed with the Pistons as a free agent on August 18, 2014. In 23 games with Detroit, he averaged 1.6 points, 0.9 rebounds and 0.5 assists in 8.6 minutes per game. In 243 career NBA games (15 starts) with Charlotte, Golden State, Washington, Atlanta, Chicago and Detroit, Martin has averages of 5.1 points, 1.9 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 13.8 minutes per game.

Andre Drummond To Wait On Extension, Pistons Get $13M Cap Space

Oct 20, 2015 3:02 PM

Andre Drummond and the Detroit Pistons have agreed not to sign a long-term extension before the Nov. 2nd deadline in order to preserve cap space for the 2016 offseason.

Drummond was a strong candidate to sign up to a five-year, $120 million maximum contract extension.

The move will allow the Pistons to enter free agency with nearly $13 million in additional salary cap space next summer than if Drummond had signed a max contract extension now.

Several players on the roster have non-guaranteed contracts for next season but this move would potentially allow the Pistons to create more than $30 million to use on free agents and then still be able to sign Drummond.

"Andre wants to be here long term," Stan Van Gundy told reporters in Detroit. "He wants us to have the flexibility to continue to add people to this team."

Drummond averaged 13.8 points and 13.5 rebounds last season. He has only missed one game in the past two seasons.

Stan Van Gundy: Balancing Length, Quickness On Defense With Shooting Is Difficult

Oct 11, 2015 4:12 PM

The Milwaukee Bucks have length at every position and how Jason Kidd organizes his rotations will be one of the NBA's most interesting storylines.

"It will be interesting with them on how they all come together and how Jason plans to use them all once Jabari is back," Stan Van Gundy said before the Bucks played the Detroit Pistons. "To get that combination of length and quickness defensively and keep enough shooting on the floor — it is not an easy balance."

The Bucks were one of the NBA's best defensive teams last season, but often struggled with their spacing on offense.
