Warriors Close Out Season With A JRich 360

Apr 21, 2005 4:44 AM

Baron Davis, Jason Richardson and Mike Dunleavy made sure that they finished the 2004-2005 season in the same way they have since February 27th when Davis made his debut in a Warriors uniform versus the Detroit Pistons and that is by winning and while winning, putting on a show.

The Warriors dominated the Jazz from the opening minutes, going up 22 at the half and ultimately winning 106-89.

They capped their first half run with an alley-oop from Dunleavy to Davis, which ended with a reverse dunk.

Davis has become everything for the Warriors.  When he was on the bench in the 2nd half, the Jazz went cut the Warriors' lead to single-digits, but as soon as he stepped back on the floor, the domination returned.

With less than 90 seconds in the game, Richardson got out on a breakaway and completed a 360 degree dunk.

Davis was the game's high scorer with 23 points and 9 assists.  Dunleavy shot 4-6 from beyond the arc, finishing with 18 points.

Dunleavy To Play His Final Game With Golden State?

Apr 19, 2005 11:44 PM

Tim Kawakami of the San Jose Mercury News is reporting that Chris Mullin may elect to trade either Mike Dunleavy or Mickael Pietrus in order to improve the Warriors frontcourt.

Small forward is the Warriors' deepest position and they could elect to deal one of these two players to balance their line-up.

Samuel Dalembert, Stromile Swift and Theo Ratliff are three players Mullin would be interested in acquiring.

With Murphy under a longterm contract, Mullin might want to trade Dunleavy, the less athletic of the two players.

Another option would be for Mullin to package Dunleavy, the former third overall pick, along with the Warriors' lottery selection this year for Andrew Bogut.

Records Shattered In Oakland, Stoudamire Chucks Up 21 Three-Pointers

Apr 16, 2005 7:13 PM

Damon ?Mighty Mouse? Stoudamire set an NBA record in last nights 108-88 Blazer loss to the new and improved Golden State Warriors.

Stoudamire threw up an astonishing 21 three-point attempts in the contest, a horrific feat that was offset by his 5th career triple-double.  Making good on only 5 of the 21 attempts, Stoudamire finished the game with 18 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists in 48 minutes.

"It just came from being in the game so much," Stoudamire said. "Sometimes, you get one when you're working hard, but this one you're in the game so much, the ball just bounces your way."

Seemingly taking a cue from the Toronto Raptors, the Trailblazers attempted 37 three-pointers on the night, setting a team record.  The Warriors threw up 32 themselves and together both teams set the NBA record with 69 combined three-pointers attempted.  The previous of 67 coming April 8 in the Warriors/Suns contest.

"We weren't looking to shoot 37, but I don't think we had that many bad shots," Blazers interim coach Kevin Pritchard said. "We had some good looks, but we couldn't knock them down."

Apr 12, 2005 7:39 PM

Kenyon Martin was fined $7,500 Tuesday by the NBA for verbally abusing officials and failing to leave the court in a timely manner after his ejection against Golden State.

Martin was ejected early in the third quarter Monday night for shoving the Warriors' Adonal Foyle, drawing his second technical foul of the game.

Martin received his first technical midway through the second quarter for throwing his mouthpiece in the air after being called for a foul.

After the second technical, Martin yelled at official Rodney Mott for a few seconds, then ripped off his jersey and tossed it to the crowd as he left the floor. Martin also tore off the tank top he was wearing under his jersey and disgustedly threw that into the crowd.

A Baby French Jordan?

Apr 12, 2005 2:39 PM

In 2003 Mickael Pietrus was drafted by the Warriors and he was instantly known as the French Jordan.

He is keeping his fingers crossed when asked about the possibility of his brother joining him in the NBA.

Florent Pietrus, 24, is playing for Malaga in Spain, and though he does not have his brother's offensive upside, he is the same sort of tough, long-armed defender. Mickael Pietrus says his brother is signed for three years with Malaga but could be bought out if an NBA team shows interest.
