Amare Has Little Interest In Golden State

Jun 30, 2009 8:17 PM

Amare Stoudemire has little interest in joining the Warriors, according to two sources.  The sources also indicated that the likeliest scenario at this point is for Stoudemire to stay with the Suns this season.

Stoudemire has told associates that he believes the Warriors could be giving up too much in the proposed deal, which would include Andris Biedrins, Brandan Wright, Marco Belinelli and possibly Stephen Curry.

Stoudemire is also reluctant to play center.

Nelson firmly declared on Friday that Golden State won't deal Curry, who was linked to Phoenix in trade rumors.

"He can unpack his bags and relax," Nelson said. "He can buy a house. We drafted him because we think he's a terrific player that fits right into our program. He ain't going anyplace."

Many wondered whether the Warriors selected Curry with the seventh overall pick at the request of another team.

Curry: No Disappointment In Not Going To New York

Jun 26, 2009 7:21 AM

Stephen Curry expressed his desire to play for the Knicks multiple times prior to the draft, but ended up with the Warriors.

Many took Curry's reaction after hearing his name called as frustration, but he says that wasn't the case. When commissioner David Stern called his name as the seventh pick, he put his hands together and bowed his head.

"That was my reaction thanking God for the opportunity to be drafted," Curry said afterward. "It wasn't anything about not going to New York or disappointment or anything like that."

Curry remains in limbo, linked to Phoenix in rumors of a possible trade involving Amare Stoudemire.

"I hope I go to sleep a Warrior. So right now I see myself as a Warrior."

Crawford For Law Deal Now Official

Jun 25, 2009 4:42 PM

The Golden State Warriors have acquired guards Acie Law and Speedy Claxton from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for guard Jamal Crawford, the Warriors announced on Thursday.

?We feel we have gained tremendous flexibility with the addition of Jamal,? said Atlanta GM Rick Sund.  ?He gives us balance in the backcourt, having produced at both point guard and shooting guard positions.  Not only is Jamal a talented scorer, but he can also deliver quality production down the stretch of games.?

Don Nelson had threatened to not play Crawford in 09-10 in an attempt to convince the guard not to exercise his early termination option, but instead the Warriors found a way to unload him.

Golden State is expected to receive insurance compensation on Claxton's contract.
