Golden State, Sacramento Have Never Reached Playoffs In Same Season

Feb 19, 2014 1:33 AM

The Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings are separated by just 90 miles and have shared Northern California for 29 seasons, but they have yet to develop a rivalry.

The Warriors and Kings have never reached the playoffs in the same season during that stretch of time.

During the Warriors' stretch of contention from 86-87 until 93-94, the Kings never won more than 29 games.

When the Kings were in the playoffs every season from 98-99 until 05-06, the Warriors won 21 or fewer games in three seasons.

The Kings are now owned by a former co-owner of the Warriors in Vivek Ranadive, while Chris Mullin and Pete D'Alessandro are also former members of that front office.

Harrison Barnes: Coming Off Bench Has 'Been A Challenge'

Feb 15, 2014 4:20 PM

Harrison Barnes admitted on Friday that the Golden State Warriors' decision this offseason to acquire Andre Iguodala in a sign-and-trade has made the season challenging as he's been moved to a bench role.

"I'm not going to front," Barnes said. "It's been a challenge."

Barnes has played better of late, going into the All-Star break scoring double-digits in four straight games.

"When you're coming off the bench, you're expected to come in and produce," Barnes said. "No matter the situation or what the defense is doing, you've got to bring something. Obviously, people will load up on our starters, so I'm needed to come in and score as well as defend and rebound."

Lacob: Mark Jackson Should Be Feeling Pressure, That's A Good Thing

Feb 12, 2014 12:43 AM

Mark Jackson took offense by the way his comments on Andrew Bogut's shoulder injury were "twisted." Joe Lacob was asked if he believes Jackson is feeling some additional pressure right now due to the relative struggles of the Golden State Warriors.

"Maybe he is feeling it a little and he should be feeling pressure," said Lacob. "That’s a good thing.

"I feel the pressure for this team to perform. We’ve invested a lot of time, a lot of money, a lot of thinking, a lot of effort, and we’re going to continue to do so.

"I certainly feel pressure and some weight of expectation and I’m very happy to feel those things because it means we’ re getting somewhere."

Lacob said he is disappointed with the Warriors due to their expectations, but isn't overly concerned.

Jackson is under contract through the 14-15 season and the Warriors haven't discussed an extension with him.

Irving Wanted Cavaliers To Strongly Consider Harrison Barnes In 2012 Draft

Feb 11, 2014 11:49 PM

The Cleveland Cavaliers selected Dion Waiters with the fourth overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, passing over Andre Drummond and Harrison Barnes in the process.

Kyrie Irving and Waiters have struggled to play together.

Irving badly wanted the Cavaliers to consider Barnes, who is his close friend and would have provided a fit at small forward.
