Thunder Have 'Real Concern' With Warriors' Kevin Durant Infatuation

May 31, 2016 1:04 PM

The Oklahoma City Thunder have a "real concern" with the Golden State Warriors' infatuation with signing Kevin Durant, according to a source.

Durant and the Thunder were one win away from defeating the Warriors in the Western Conference Finals.

“I was just stuck in the moment,” Durant told The Undefeated. “Man, we just lost the game. I embraced my teammates, the coach and GM. I really had no thoughts. I just let everyone know that I felt the same pain that they felt. I just wanted to go through that moment together.”

In free agency, Durant will rely on his agent Rich Kleiman of Roc Nation and his business manager and childhood friend Charlie Bell as he considers his options.

“We will figure it out,” Durant said. “I will talk to my agent, my best friend and my dad. Just talk to those three guys and get some advice from other people. But for the most part, I will talk to them in the next couple of weeks. I don’t even know where my mind is right now.

“I can’t think about what is going to happen in a month. I’m just thinking about what we’ve all been through as a team and embrace my brothers right now.”

Andre Iguodala: It Must Be Fun Playing With A Guy Like Kevin Durant

May 31, 2016 2:28 AM

Andre Iguodala was given the primary responsibility of defending Kevin Durant in the Western Conference Finals.

"He made some really tough shots, which is what I expected," Iguodala said of Durant. "He's a fighter and competitor and fought to the end. It must be fun playing with a guy like that."

Iguodala quickly added a follow-up: "Unless I'm not playing with him."

The Golden State Warriors plan on pursuing Durant in free agency but that would likely require trading away one or more members of their rotation.

Iguodala and Durant were teammates on Team USA for the 2012 Olympics.

Westbrook Laughs At Question About Whether Curry Is 'Underrated' Defender

May 27, 2016 10:51 AM

After the Golden State Warriors defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 5 with Stephen Curry picking up several key steals, Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook were asked if Curry is underrated as a defender.

Westbrook audibly laughed at the question that Durant then went on to answer after briefly pausing.

"I mean, getting steals, I don't know if that's just -- that's a part of playing defense, but he's pretty good, but he doesn't guard the best point guards," said Durant. "I think they do a good job of putting a couple of guys on Russell from [Klay] Thompson to [Andre] Iguodala, and Steph, they throw him in there sometimes. He moves his feet pretty well. He's good with his hands. But, you know, I like our matchup with him guarding Russ."

Steve Kerr: Stephen Curry Wouldn't Be Playing If He Were Injured

May 26, 2016 12:41 PM

Steve Kerr dismissed a report that from Adrian Wojnarowski quoted a non-Warriors source as saying Curry is playing at 70 percent.

"Is that 'sources with knowledge of the team's thinking?' " Kerr asked Wednesday afternoon. "Nobody has said anything about Steph being 70 percent to me. Training staff, relatives, friends, sources with knowledge of the team's thinking -- nobody has told me he's 70 percent. Evidently they told the media but not me."

Kerr acknowledged that Curry has been "not as explosive" over the past two games.

"I know he's not injured -- if he were injured, he would not be playing," Kerr said. "Is he bothered a little bit, perhaps by the layoff when he went three weeks without a game? He may not be quite where he needs to be, but it's not an injury, and that's the important thing."

The Warriors have resisted every attempt to cite the injury to Curry as a reason why they trail 3-1.

Draymond Green: I Have No Doubt We'll Win Game 5

May 26, 2016 11:13 AM

Draymond Green is confident in the Golden State Warriors' chances of bouncing back to win Game 5 after losing in both Game 3 and Game 4 at the Oklahoma City Thunder in blowouts.

"This team, this group of guys, we haven’t been in an elimination situation [since 2014]. So it’s different," said Green. "But I also know this team knows how to lock in. I know this team knows how to play tough. I know this team knows how to play like our lives depended on it. And I have no doubt in my mind that we will win [Game 5]. No doubt about that. I absolutely expect to be back here and I look forward to it.”

Green has blamed himself for the Warriors' struggles.

"It’s no shocker to me that we’re down 3-1 because I haven’t been there for two games. I wish I had the answer [as to why]. I don’t have the answer. But I know I will change it. It’s not too late. That’s why it’s a seven-game series. They have to beat us to four [wins]. We go home. Take care of home court. Get something to feel good about. And then we battle. But we have to come out Thursday like our lives depend on it. I have no doubt in my mind that this team will respond."

NBA Won't Upgrade Draymond Green's Trip Of Kanter To Flagrant Foul

May 25, 2016 1:33 PM

Draymond Green will not receive an upgraded foul charge to a Flagrant 1 for his trip of Enes Kanter.

Green is one flagrant foul away from reaching the NBA's limit for a suspension to automatically kick in.

The NBA upgraded Green's kick of Steven Adams in Game 3 to a Flagrant 2 but elected not to suspend him.

OKC's Own Death Lineup Has Net Rating Of +68.5 In West Finals

May 25, 2016 1:50 PM

Billy Donovan only gave 46 minutes during the regular season to a five-man unit of Serge Ibaka, Kevin Durant, Andre Roberson, Dion Waiters and Russell Westbrook.

But in the Western Conference Finals, it has become the Oklahoma City Thunder's version of a death lineup against the Golden State Warriors.

The lineup has a 139.8 offensive rating against a 71.3 defensive rating to give it a net rating of +68.5 points per 100 possessions.

Roberson and Waiters have given the Thunder enough offense to make the Warriors' defend them while also being long enough to defend anyone on the other side of the floor.
