Brooks Could Vote For Harden As All-Star Reserve

Dec 30, 2012 8:34 PM

James Harden will likely need to be voted into the All-Star game as a reserve, and that means he'll need the NBA coaches to select him.

Count Harden's former coach, Scott Brooks, in that category for now.

“James was really good for us,” Brooks said. “He's a terrific player. He's an All-Star player. He's definitely at that level, and he's going to be that way for many, many, many years. He still has improvement to make in his game and he's really good now."

Harden's competition will come from Russell Westbrook, a virtual lock to be voted in by coaches, Tony Parker and Stephen Curry.

Royce White Refuses D-League Assignment

Dec 31, 2012 12:59 PM

Royce White was sent to the Houston Rockets' D-League affiliate on Saturday, but he released a statement Sunday refusing to accept the assignment.

White also made it clear once again that he is not pleased with the Rockets' support and management of his medical disorder.

"The information that the Houston Rockets have publicly presented about this situation has been extremely misleading and a lot of times totally inaccurate," White said in a statement. "An image of support has been presented by the Rockets, but the only logical support here would be listening to the recommendation of the medical professionals involved. That has not totally happened here. I have chosen to not play, because the doctors and I believe it to be unsafe for unqualified Rockets front office personnel to make medical decisions, as they are not mental health professionals.”

Rockets Want To Attack, Play Faster Than Opponent

Dec 26, 2012 11:29 AM

The Houston Rockets blew out the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday by a final score of 120-97.

Omer Asik had 20 points, 18 rebounds and three blocks against his former team.

“We just want to attack,” Asik said. “We don’t care … how many points we are down or how many points we are up. We just want to attack and play faster than the other team. That’s our mindset.”

“Our best offense is our defense, hands down,” said Chandler Parsons. “We’re so much more efficient on the break when we can make plays, space the floor and let James (Harden) do his thing or let me or Jeremy (Lin) push the ball. And it starts with O (Asik).”

The Houston Rockets continue to believe that James Harden and Jeremy Lin will develop better chemistry over time.

“A lot of our offensive flow is predicated on our defense,” Kevin McHale said. “If we can get stops, we can get out and go – we’re just much, much better.”

Lin: Rockets Not Expecting Me To Recreate 'Linsanity'

Dec 17, 2012 9:15 PM

Jeremy Lin made his first return to Madison Square Garden on Monday.

Lin spoke with the media about how he wants to move on with the Houston Rockets.

“We have our expectations and we have our roles and things like that,” said Lin. “I just need to stay focused and have tunnel vision when it comes to (Linsanity) and I don’t think anybody from the Rockets organization is expecting me to recreate anything and I’m not either.”

Lin entered Monday’s game against the New York Knicks averaging 10.8 points, six assists, and four rebounds per game.

Lin addressed his decline across the board with Houston in comparison to his time with the Knicks.

“I think it’s been an up and down season,” said Lin. “There have been good stretches and not so good stretches, but I think that’s all part of the growth and maturation of me as a young player and us as a young team.”

Despite a rough start to the season, Lin thinks the struggles will pay off in due time.

“I think you grow the most and evaluate yourself the most through tough times,” said Lin. “No one became better, or great, without going through adversity and challenges.”

Lin Ready To Get MSG Return 'Over With'

Dec 17, 2012 11:25 AM

Jeremy Lin will return to Madison Square Garden as a member of the Houston Rockets on Monday.

“If I were to be realistic, there will probably be a little bit of nostalgia or reminiscing and thankful for those times because those were great times,” Lin said. “At the same time, it’s the next chapter.

“I’m definitely ready to get it over with. I think in some sense there will be some closure. This will be the first return back to MSG, and there will never be another first return. We’re going to go out and play and have some fun.”
