Sources: Rockets Plan On Pursuing LeBron James In Free Agency

Dec 22, 2017 4:44 PM

The Houston Rockets plan on pursuing LeBron James in free agency, according to sources.

The Rockets have an attractive core with James Harden and Chris Paul, but will have very limited cap space to sign James to a contract anywhere close to his max. When James was previously a free agent in 2014, he made it clear that he would not accept a contract below his full max.

Clint Capela and Trevor Ariza will also be free agents.

James Harden To Play Through Right Knee Pain

Dec 17, 2017 10:38 AM

James Harden anticipates continuing to play through pain in his bruised right knee.

Harden nearly sat for Saturday's game against the Bucks.

"I wasn't feeling well at all, but the doc came in and just told me that there's going to be pain for a bit, but you can play through it," Harden said. "It can't get worse, but it's going to be pretty painful until obviously you give it some time. Once he said that, I was like, 'Let's go.'"

Harden acknowledged that the soreness in his knee significantly limited his explosiveness.

"I wasn't moving like I usually move, but we won," said Harden. "Move on to the next game."

Chris Paul: We're Playing The Right Way And Trying To Get Better

Dec 14, 2017 10:11 AM

The Houston Rockets are 12-0 in games played by Chris Paul this season.

"It's all good and well. It's nice," said Paul. "I've been on a team that won 17 games in a row, and it didn't feel like that. You know what I mean? Just because it's all about playing the right way, it's all about building. You can win however many games you want in a row. It means nothing if you're not playing the right way, but right now we're playing the right way and still trying to get better."

Paul scored a season-high 31 points to go with seven rebounds and 11 assists during the Rockets' win on Wednesday.

"Just to see him have that confidence and shoot that and be aggressive and get in his bag, as we call it, it's a great sight," said James Harden. "Not only to fans and teammates, but everybody around the world loves to see Chris Paul do that. Hopefully he can continue that and continue to get that confidence to where if he wants to shoot the ball three, four, five, six times in a row, he can do it."

'Overstated Assumption' LeBron James, Chris Paul Want To Be Teammates

Dec 14, 2017 10:09 AM

The Houston Rockets have recently been mentioned as a team with a realistic chance of signing LeBron James in 2018.

James is very close friends with Chris Paul and also played on the United States Olympic team in 2012 with perennial MVP candidate James Harden.

League sources say the concept of James and Paul wanting to spend their final NBA seasons together as teammates an overstated assumption.

The Rockets also lack the cap space to sign James, Paul and Harden to max contracts, which would mean James and Paul take significant discounts. All three players are eligible for contracts starting at 35 percent of the cap.
