Andrew Bynum Improving Conditioning To Play Consistently

Feb 28, 2014 1:19 PM

Andrew Bynum practiced three-on-three with the Indiana Pacers this week, and Frank Vogel is optimistic the veteran center will be able to play soon.

"The goal is to get him to the point where he's able to play every night," Vogel said. "We don't want him to play one game and sit three games."

Bynum signed with the Pacers as a free agent Feb. 1 and last played Dec. 26 for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

"We know what we can expect from him when he's healthy and in shape. He's one of the best centers in the NBA," Vogel said. "We've seen flashes of that in practice that he's shown here."

Danny Granger was "pissed" when he learned that he had been traded by the Indiana Pacers to the Philadelphia 76ers, according to a league source.

Granger had spent his entire career with the Pacers' organization.

Many around the NBA expect Granger to sign with either the Miami Heat or San Antonio Spurs assuming he is waived.

"We'll meet with (Danny Granger). ... It's going to be interesting," said Sim Hinkie. "We're going to sit and talk."

Hinkie said that there is a chance that the 76ers will discuss a buyout with Granger.

Mavericks, Pistons, Pacers Discuss Luol Deng Trade With Cavaliers

Feb 19, 2014 5:46 PM

The Cleveland Cavaliers have held trade talks with the Dallas Mavericks, Detroit Pistons and Indiana Pacers on Luol Deng.

There is little traction on the talks as no team seems inclined to give up highly valued assets for Deng, who will be a free agent in the offseason.

Deng is determined to test free agency before making a decision on whether to re-sign with the Cavaliers.

Deng will be seeking a deal in the $12 million to $13 million per season range.

Paul, West Began Talking About Leaving New Orleans After Chandler Trade

Feb 13, 2014 10:49 PM

When the then-New Orleans Hornets traded away Tyson Chandler to the Charlotte Bobcats for Emeka Okafor, Chris Paul and David West began privately discussing the possibility of leaving the franchise.

"[Paul] knew I was going to leave because I knew he was leaving. We had open conversations about that," West said. "The writing was on the wall probably the season, two seasons before that last year."

Paul embraced New Orleans, but the franchise was in turmoil for much of his tenure.

"The toughest thing was the instability. You just never knew what would have happen," Paul said.

Paul's brother, C.J. Paul, said the "final straw" was when West informed them he wouldn't re-sign in free agency.

"We had talked about possibly sticking together. But once he realized that I was gone, I knew he was definitely going to check out," West said. "It was time for us to find new space."

Said Chris Paul: "I missed David West. My partner. My right hand man."

Paul returns to New Orleans this weekend for the All-Star Game as a member of the Los Angeles Clippers.

Pacers, Wizards Actively Shopping Expiring Contracts Of Granger, Ariza

Feb 11, 2014 2:57 PM

The Washington Wizards and Indiana Pacers have been actively shopping the expiring contracts of Trevor Ariza and Danny Granger, respectively, according to sources.

But expiring contracts do not have nearly the same level of value they have in the past.

For the Pacers, they would likely only want another expiring contract in return for Granger due to their tax concerns in re-signing Lance Stephenson this offseason.
