Pacers To Play Smaller Next Season With Hibbert Having Diminished Role

Apr 17, 2015 12:06 PM

The Indiana Pacers plan on playing faster on offense next season to contend with smaller and versatile lineups of opponents.

Roy Hibbert is the player that will most likely be impacted by the change in scheme.

"Possibly," said Vogel when asked if Hibbert will be benched. "Roy's role will be diminished."

Hibbert can opt out to become a free agent.

"Whatever he does, he does," said Larry Bird. "We'll assume he's going to come back."

Paul George will play some small-ball 4 for the Pacers.

Paul George Injures Left Calf

Apr 16, 2015 12:33 PM

Paul George had to be carried off the court by teammates midway through the fourth quarter of their loss to the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Pacers called the injury a sore left calf.

"Nothing serious," Frank Vogel said. "He got kicked pretty strongly in his calf, and it caused a calf strain."

George was attended to on the bench before being carried back to the locker room.

"I just felt it," George said. "I knew it wasn't nothing good.

"Just came off a screen and felt a pop. ... It wasn't a knee injury, but it's tough, you work so hard in rehab and have something else pop up. The good thing is, I know we've got a long summer and a lot to look forward to."

George came back from a broken right leg in April.
