Chris Paul Day-To-Day With Strained Left Hamstring

Dec 23, 2016 12:23 PM

Chris Paul will be listed as day-to-day after straining his left hamstring in the third quarter of Thursday's 106-101 victory over the Spurs.

"I don't think it's bad, but you don't really know about a hamstring until the next day," Doc Rivers said.

The Clippers are already without Blake Griffin after he underwent surgery on his right knee.

Paul had 19 points and six assists in 23 minutes before pulling up on defense in the third quarter.

Hassan Whiteside Clarifies Comments About DeAndre Jordan

Dec 16, 2016 8:17 PM

Hassan Whiteside has clarified his comments about DeAndre Jordan.

"He catches lobs. I shoot jumpers, catch lobs and block shots. I do a lot. He just catches lobs," said Whiteside about Jordan on Thursday.

Whiteside stressed Friday his point was that with Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and J.J. Redick alongside, Jordan had more leeway to focus on his All-NBA-level shot-blocking and rebounding.

"Definitely misconstrued," Whiteside said in front of his locker. "First, I would never diss another big fella. I'm all for the big guys in the game. I was just saying on the offensive end, our roles are different. Obviously, he's a top-three rebounder and one of the best defensive players in the game. I didn't think I had to explain that, but I see I do. Quote me on that."

Whiteside acknowledged that he also was able to focus primarily on lob offense when he had Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh as teammates.

Clippers Pursued Sign-And-Trade For Gordon Hayward In 2014

Dec 14, 2016 1:27 PM

The Los Angeles Clippers explored a sign-and-trade deal for Gordon Hayward in 2014 when he was a restricted free agent. Hayward signed a four-year, $63 million offer sheet with the Charlotte Hornets that was matched by the Jazz.

Doc Rivers is an admirer of Hayward's game and the Clippers have long had a hole at small forward.

The Clippers won't have an easy path to max cap space to pursue Hayward as they also have to contend with the free agencies of Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and J.J. Redick in 2017.

David Stern: There Was Never A Chris Paul To Lakers Trade To 'Void'

Dec 8, 2016 5:55 PM

David Stern was asked about the proposed trade of Chris Paul to the Los Angeles Lakers that was canceled by him when the NBA were assuming control of the-then New Orleans Hornets.

Paul was to be traded to the Lakers with Pau Gasol going to the Houston Rockets in a blockbuster three-team trade.

The Los Angeles Clippers eventually traded for Paul and New Orleans won the lottery to draft Anthony Davis the next year.

"I'm going to correct your language: What 'cancellation'? The GM [Dell Demps] was not authorized to make that trade," said Stern when asked about the canceled trade. "And acting on behalf of owners, we decided not to make it. I was an owner rep. There was nothing to 'void.' It just never got made.

"When you're the commissioner and you have two teams that are ticked off at you, as in the Lakers and Houston, and the GMs without wanting to be attributed, spend their time trashing you, the wrong impression can be granted. It was one of the few times I decided to just go radio silent and let it play out, and I got killed. So, the answer is: there was never a trade. It was never approved by me as the owner rep."

When the decision was made in 2011, a league spokesman said: “League office declined to make the trade for basketball reasons.”

Blake Griffin: Our Spirit As A Team Is Great Now

Dec 1, 2016 11:20 AM

Everyone around the Los Angeles Clippers swears the vibe around the team is the best it has been since Chris Paul arrived via trade in December of 2011.

"I never had a problem with Chris," Griffin said. "Sometimes it was better than others. Our spirit as a team is great now."

Paul is known for being a difficult person to play with due to how demanding he can be of his teammates.

"It used to be, if we lost, everyone might be, 'It's his fault! We need to change this and that!'" Paul said.

"There's no finger pointing now," Griffin added.

"When you have multiple alphas, multiple guys in a lot of TV commercials, there is always going to be some tension and clashing," J.J. Redick said.

Clippers Expect Chris Paul To Seek Full Five-Year Max Contract

Dec 1, 2016 11:07 AM

The Los Angeles Clippers expect Chris Paul to demand the full five-year max this offseason in free agency.

Paul turns 32 in May and his new five-year deal would take him well past 35.

Paul has so far defied age related regression and has remained incredibly healthy.

Mike Conley signed a record five-year, $153 million max contract this past offseason that Paul will comfortably break even if the cap projection comes in on the low end.
