Clippers In Talks With Rams On Arena In Inglewood

Feb 24, 2017 3:53 PM

The Los Angeles Clippers have had multiple discussions with the Los Angeles Rams about building an arena in Inglewood.

Representatives of Steve Ballmer and Stan Kroenke have held talks about an arena that could be on the 298-acre site or an adjacent parcel.

An arena would drive traffic to the planned mixed-use development and share parking. The Rams' $2.6 billion staduium will open in 2019.

The Clippers' lease runs through 2024 and Ballmer has long had interest in his own arena.

Inglewood is one of multiple sites the Clippers are exploring in a process that started more than a year ago.

Ballmer would not want to be a tenant and therefore would need to own the arena land.

One person with knowledge of the discussions said the Forum would be “protected” as part of an agreement if a competing venue were to be built. The person wouldn’t elaborate on what that would entail.

Draymond Green To Paul Pierce: You Can't Get No Farewell Tour

Feb 24, 2017 11:09 AM

During the opening minute of the Golden State Warriors' win over the Los Angeles Clippers, Draymond Green began talking trash during a free throw to Paul Pierce sitting on the bench.

“Chasing that farewell tour, they don’t love you like that," said Green. "You can’t get no farewell tour, they don’t love you like that. You ain’t got that type of love. You thought you was Kobe.”

Pierce was critical of Kevin Durant's decision to leave the Thunder for the Warriors in the offseason, which prompted a reply from Green.

"I just wonder at what point do they get bored talking about the same thing. You got all these guys talking. Like (Paul) Pierce today, like, dude nobody care what you did or who you did it for. Just give it a break."

Pierce replied on Twitter after the game.

Chris Paul Could Return This Week From Thumb Surgery

Feb 22, 2017 4:15 PM

Chris Paul could return from his surgically repaired thumb injury as soon as Thursday.

Paul tore a ligament in his left thumb on Jan. 16 and underwent surgery two days later. Paul was initially expected to miss six to eight weeks.

"He looked great. He went through the whole practice [on Tuesday]. You know, so it was good. Really good," Doc Rivers said before practice on Wednesday. "He could play tomorrow. I mean, I can't tell you if he will or not, but he's been cleared medically. But we just want to make sure that he's comfortable playing."

Paul has missed 13 games so far as a result of the thumb injury. He also missed seven games earlier in the season due to a strained left hamstring.

Feb 20, 2017 9:13 PM

The Los Angeles Clippers have intermittently discussed a Blake Griffin trade with the Boston Celtics this season though a deal is unlikely at this point.

Griffin will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason. The Celtics would likely seek official permission to talk to Griffin about his future before executing a trade.

The Clippers would seek Jae Crowder, either Avery Bradley or Marcus Smart and multiple picks in exchange for Griffin.

Teams Interested In Carmelo Anthony Expect Him To Remain With Knicks

Feb 19, 2017 2:34 PM

Most teams who have had interest in Carmelo Anthony are looking in other directions and expect him to remain with the New York Knicks for the rest of the season.

Anthony doesn't have a strong interest in changing teams during the middle of the season and hasn't been approached by the Knicks on any trade scenarios.

Teams like the Los Angeles Clippers expect to revisit the possibility of acquiring Anthony around the draft or during the free agency period beginning July 1st.

The Clippers have a number of pending free agents, most notably Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and J.J. Redick.
