Lakers Expect Kobe Bryant To Play Some Minutes At Power Forward

Jul 27, 2015 8:53 PM

Kobe Bryant could play some minutes at power forward for the Los Angeles Lakers this season.

Jordan Clarkson, D'Angelo Russell and Lou Williams will receive a significant portion of the backcourt minutes, leaving Bryant at small forward and even power forward.

"If we don't get another guard, then Kobe's in that mix," Scott said. "I'm kind of going through those scenarios. But not necessarily as far as who's starting and who doesn't ... I think (Bryant) will play more three than two. If we can get him at the elbows and at the mid-post, the more effective he'll be. I don't think he needs to be using up the whole 94-foot floor. If we can cut that down some, I think that saves his legs as much as possible. But if we can get him where he operates best, which to me is elbows on each area, top of the key, at the pinch post, at the mid-post, then I think he can be real effective for us."

Lakers, Rockets, Pistons Interested In Ty Lawson

Jul 17, 2015 11:04 AM

The Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets and Detroit Pistons have expressed interest in Ty Lawson.

Lawson could be dealt by the Denver Nuggets before training camp.

Lawson has had multiple DUI arrests this year.

With Emmanuel Mudiay on the roster, Lawson has been made expendable by the Nuggets.

The Sacramento Kings could also get involved in trading for Lawson to reunite him with George Karl despite the presence of Rajon Rondo.

Lakers Acquire Roy Hibbert From Pacers For 2nd Round Pick

Jul 9, 2015 10:44 PM

The Indiana Pacers have acquired a future Second Round draft pick from the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Roy Hibbert.

Mitch Kupchak revealed Hibbert waived part of his trade kicker to make the deal work. The kicker was initially about $2.5 million.

“I’d like to thank Roy for all his contributions during his time in Indiana,” said Pacers President of Basketball Operations Larry Bird. “He was a two-time NBA All-Star, and we appreciate everything he did for our franchise both on and off the court.”

Hibbert, a 7-2, 275-pound center out of Georgetown, was drafted by the Toronto Raptors with the 17th overall pick of the 2008 NBA Draft and then traded to the Pacers in July 2008. He played seven seasons for the Pacers and has career averages of 11.1 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game. He was named to the NBA All-Star team in 2012 and 2014 and was named to the 2013-14 NBA All-Defensive Second Team.

Lou Williams Agrees To Three-Year, $21M Deal With Lakers

Jul 5, 2015 6:07 PM

Free agent guard Lou Williams has reached agreement with the Los Angeles Lakers on a three-year, $21 million deal, league sources told RealGM.

Williams, the reigning NBA Sixth Man of the Year, will have a fully guaranteed contract with the Lakers, containing no options.

After a full season from recovering from a torn ACL, Williams scored a career-high 15.5 points per game in 80 games for the Toronto Raptors last season. Williams was the best remaining guard on the market Sunday afternoon, a potent scorer capable of significant scoring performances on a playoff contender.

In 11 NBA seasons, Williams has averaged 12 points, 2.9 assists and two rebounds with the Philadelphia 76ers, Atlanta Hawks and Raptors. For the Lakers, Williams is a progressive signing with an eye toward improving the balance of the roster — which will also add Roy Hibbert after the NBA’s free agency moratorium on Thursday.

Williams had several suitors in free agency, including the Toronto Raptors and Sacramento Kings. The 28-year-old was a second round pick for the 76ers in 2005.
