Kevin Durant Believes Lakers Were 'Couple Years Away' From Where He Wanted To Be

Kevin Durant explained his decision not to meet with the Los Angeles Lakers in free agency.

“Nothing against the Lakers, but I already had my mind set on who I wanted to talk to,” Durant said. “I really respect their team. I just thought they were a couple years away from where I wanted to be.”

Durant met with the Warriors, Thunder, Celtics, Heat, Spurs and Clippers.

The Lakers are trying to rebuild around D'Angelo Russell, Brandon Ingram, Jordan Clarkson and Julius Randle.

Brandon Bass has agreed upon a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Bass spent last season with the Los Angeles Lakers, averaging 7.2 points and 4.3 rebounds in 20.3 minutes per game.

Bass previously played for Doc Rivers with the Boston Celtics.

Larry Nance Jr. Suffered Sprained Wrist, No Fracture

Larry Nance, Jr., who was injured in the 4th quarter of last night’s 88-80 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Las Vegas Summer League, was examined today in Los Angeles by team physician Dr. Steve Lombardo and hand specialist Dr. Steve Shin of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic.

Results of the examination and MRI showed a sprained right wrist, but no fracture or ligament damage.

Nance will not play in the Lakers’ final Summer League game, and his status moving forward is day to day.

For the Lakers, Huertas averaged 4.5 points and 3.4 assists in 53 games.
