Grizzlies' Front Office 'Aggressively' Suggesting Lineups To Dave Joerger

Nov 27, 2013 1:33 PM

Dave Joerger is receiving considerable direction from the Memphis Grizzlies' front office, according to sources.

Robert Pera and John Hollinger are strong proponents of advanced statistics.

“They’re suggesting lineups,” said one league source. “Aggressively.”

One scout said, “It looked as if Joerger was trying to put his stamp on them and the players resisted. They were like, ‘The other way worked, so why change?’ I know they wanted to play faster, but they don’t have that kind of team. They grind.”

The Grizzlies won 56 games last season as Lionel Hollins resisted changes from the front office.

Marc Gasol suffered an apparent sprained left knee in the second quarter of the Memphis Grizzlies' loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Friday and will undergo an MRI on Saturday.

Gasol did not return in the game.

“I was just worried about big fella. I wasn’t worried about picking up the scoring load,” Mike Conley said. “I just wanted to do whatever was working for us. We made some plays, got back in the game and just didn’t have enough. But we played hard.”

Randolph Wants To Retire With Grizzlies

Nov 3, 2013 11:19 PM

Zach Randolph can be an unrestricted free agent this offseason and he would like to remain with the Memphis Grizzlies.

Randolph has had his best NBA success with the Grizzlies, though many around the NBA believe they already have his replacement in Ed Davis.

"I’d like to be here," said Randolph. "I’d like to retire here. You never know. If I’ve got to make some sacrifices to be here, I would. I still can play. I can still help a team out. I want to win a championship. I’ve made all the money in the world. I just want to win. I don’t know yet [about opting in or opting out], but Memphis is my home. If they trade me tomorrow, I’m here. I just bought a new house. My daughters go to school [in Memphis]. That’s my home."
