As an MVP-caliber season nears an end with Xinjiang in China, Lester Hudson has received inquiries from the Memphis Grizzlies, New York Knicks and Los Angeles Clippers, looking into the guard’s availability, league sources told RealGM.
In helping take Xinjiang to the Chinese Basketball Association playoffs and leading the club to the second-best record in the league, Hudson is averaging 26 points, 7.6 rebounds and five assists. The CBA regular season concluded on Feb. 16, bringing a flurry of American players back to the free agency pool, but Hudson remained with his team in postseason play and will become available soon.
Hudson, a crafty 6-foot-3 guard, played for the Utah Jazz in training camp this season and averaged nearly five points on 45.5 percent three-point shooting over five preseason games. He also had been a focal point of the Los Angeles Lakers’ entry in the Las Vegas Summer League.
In three NBA seasons, Hudson averaged 4.8 points and 1.3 assists. His best stretch came as a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers to finish the 2011-12 season, when he scored 12.7 points per game and appeared to solidify himself as a rotation player.
Hudson went to the Boston Celtics with the 58th overall draft pick in 2009.
