The Memphis Grizzlies will allow Ed Davis to become an unrestricted free agent, according to a source.

Davis was acquired in 2013 from the Toronto Raptors in the three-team Rudy Gay trade.

The Grizzlies signed Zach Randolph to an extension last week.

Zach Randolph has agreed to a two-year, $20 million extension with the Memphis Grizzlies after he exercised his $16.5 million player option for the 14-15 season.

Randolph was considering opting out to test free agency.

Randolph has had the best success of his career with the Grizzlies and turns 33 in July. Randolph has been an All-Star in 2010 and 2013.

The Toronto Raptors are interested in acquiring the 22nd overall pick from the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Raptors would have to take back Tayshaun Prince in exchange, while sending out John Salmons and the No. 37 pick to the Grizzlies.

The Raptors are believed to be interested in Tyler Ennis and Clint Capela, as they also own the 20th overall pick. 

Zach Randolph and the Memphis Grizzlies have hit an impasse in discussions on a contract extension and he's seriously considering using his early termination option to become a free agent.

Raymond Brothers, Randolph's agent, has been talks with Chris Wallace for several weeks.

Memphis has held firm on a three-year extension, but Randolph has preferred the security of four years, league sources said.

Randolph is an extremely popular player in Memphis and has expressed a desire to retire with the franchise.

The Memphis Grizzlies have received permission to interview Michael Winger, who is currently assistant general manager of the Oklahoma City Thunder. But Winger has declined the interview, according to ESPN's Brian Windhorst.

The Grizzlies' position is currently viewed as more of an assistant general manager/possible GM in waiting with Chris Wallace continuing as GM for the foreseeable future.

Winger was hired by the Thunder from the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2010.

James Johnson has been arrested for domestic assault and is accused of hitting and choking his wife.

Johnson was booked into the Shelby County Jail at 4:35 a.m. Saturday and was still there Saturday afternoon.

WMC-TV cited a police affidavit that Johnson and his wife had just returned home when Johnson allegedly hit his wife in the face with an open hand before choking her.
